Yep, some parts (like the SMS & Music apps) have not been given love in this update but they’ll probably shift their focus in the next one
Considering the significant improvements in other areas, I am pretty confident.
That’s still on the roadmap & coming in the next update.
Currently, it’s not on the roadmap, but I will pass this on to the team.
Short review of update 1.5.0:
-
Indeed the keyboard is much better now. Faster, more responsive, and more precise. New features too. There is no more need for a 3rd party keyboard.
-
Finally a Sentry opt-out is possible
-
E-reader text is darker, but KOreader still has better functionality
-
I can’t say anything about the new GPS, since I never used GPS or maps. I still rely on paper maps lol
-
Suggestion: Maybe the team could fix minor things quickly and release 1.5.1 within 1 month ?
Such as: The overlap in the weather widget is just a text formatting issue, so can be fixed quickly.
It would also be great if new keyboard and system languages could be added in such a near-term update, rather than letting people wait another 6 months.
Several people requested:
- Nordic languages
- Russian language
- Greek language
Maybe the users who requested these languages could also help with the translations, that would make it a lot easier.
And while you’re at it, why not add Chinese and Japanese as well ? ![]()
[EDIT]: all bug reports that come up within the next 2 weeks should also be considered for a possible release 1.5.1.
As for the launcher: nothing beats Katapult. It simply has all the things that should have been there from the start.
Still missing: a simple on/off spam blocker for “non-contact” text messages. I read reviews of most 3rd party spam blockers, none of them seem to work well. But stock spam blockers on cheaper phones work perfectly, for whatever reason.
Oh and I forgot: while ghosting did get a bit worse, scrolling seems to be a bit faster overall.
So while there are still unresolved issues, the overall quality has improved and the Kompakt has become easier to use.
I’ve passed this on to the team ![]()
I’ve checked the release notes, for k.1.5.0 but can’t find instructions on Sentry opt-out. In the Settings I found a crash reporting toggle, which I’ve toggled to ‘off’. Is that how to do it?
Thanks.
Short answer: yes ![]()
Wunderbar. Thank you.
(Request to Mudita, @urszula: Please provide instructions as well as release notes so users aren’t left to guess how to achieve things. Thank you.)
I received and installed the update yesterday, and I’d like to share a quick review here after testing the device yesterday and today.
I’m really excited about the new keyboard—it was a real surprise, even if it took a year ![]()
After using it for a short while, I immediately deleted the Futo Keyboard and now only use the Mudita Keyboard. It’s very fast and I’m really happy with it. Except for the missing “Add/Learn” feature in the dictionary. But as I understand it, that’s supposed to be included in the next update.
Overall, the Kompakt’s screen seems more responsive (or is that just my imagination?).
I can’t confirm what some people here have reported (overlapping text in the Weather app and increased ghosting).
I can’t really comment on A-GPS since the regular GPS is already excellent and responds quickly enough. I tested Maps over the weekend on a bike ride (I usually use paper maps when hiking), and it worked perfectly well. And the app even found nicer routes than, for example, Komot, which my wife had used to plan the trip. We took Komot on the way there and Mudita Maps on the way back, and we both agreed that the return trip was much nicer ![]()
Now for the downsides. Basically, all the bugs are still there. The audio issue with headphones when Offline+ mode is enabled.
And I haven’t seen any mention anywhere that the issue with the SD card supposedly suddenly being empty has been fixed.
Then there was actually an announcement that the music player would be revamped (which is now suddenly nowhere to be found in the roadmap, and nothing has been announced for the next update either).
So albums are still sorted alphabetically rather than by track number.
What’s going on here, Mudita?
I’m really very grateful for the new keyboard (which, by the way, should have looked like this right from the start when the Kompakt was released), but it can’t be right that we wait six months for the “big update” and once again the known bugs haven’t been fixed, and something as simple as the music player still can’t play albums in the correct order.
I know I’m repeating myself, but how do people from the forum manage to program something like this in their spare time?
Please don’t get me wrong—I really do have a lot of respect for Mudita—but after a year now, enough is enough.
I really don’t want to wait another few months for the next “major update.”
Hi ! The customized offline+ mode and music player improvements are still on the 2026 roadmap !
This isn’t about Offline+ management, but rather a bug that has been present since, I believe, version 1.3.0, and which is triggered when Offline+ mode is enabled. As for the music player, according to the roadmap from a few weeks ago, it was supposed to receive improvements with this update. That was then removed and is now only generally planned for 2026 (which could also mean the end of the year).
is it me or the only significant update (which took so many months) is the keyboard? All the other bugs and implementation gaps are still here… I hoped at least for a regular feature to remove last calls
I would add also the assisted / more accurate GPS as a significant improvement. Also the keyboard is not just improved, it’ is a dramatic overhaul which makes the phone way more pleasant to use. Adding a “delete history” is indeed pretty trivial compare to those, and it’s on the roadmap.
Short answer: yes ![]()
Yup that’s the opt-out option. Now every user knows what Sentry is, so calling it crash-reporting is general enough so that most people understand.
Music player improvements are still on the roadmap for 2026 and they were always mentioned as something that our team was planning on for later in the year.
That’s only partly true. Before the latest update was postponed, it was listed on the roadmap alongside improvements to the music player.
And what about the other bugs I mentioned—the ones that have been known for a long time? When can we expect a fix for those?
Urszula, don’t be mad at me, but it’s really frustrating when I have to constantly report bugs for a device that’s supposed to help me disconnect from the internet and is supposed to be perfect for a digital detox, and then spend all my time writing explanations on the forum and constantly checking to see if anything’s been done about it. That’s not the point of it, is it?
I was always patient with Mudita, and I wasted a lot of money on the Pure, which never really worked properly. Still, I kept buying products from you—headphones, the alarm clock, and so on… With the Kompakt, I thought things would somehow work out better, and as I said, I’m willing to overlook a lot when it comes to a young company with such a great message behind its products. But it’s starting to get on my nerves…
Hi Marko - I’ve been using the Kompakt since last June and it is the only phone I use now. What is the offline+ bug with headphones? I use the white pair sold by Mudita and a set of Etymotic and have never encountered a problem - always go offline on the plane and often in the evening. I also have a Senhauser set that I occasionally used, w/ Jack or Bluetooth and no issues.
I did have the SD card show as empty - that ended up being a formatting problem. I ended up getting a 512GB SanDisk and formatted as a FAT32 and have never had an issue since.
The roadmap is on point and I think they over delivered with this latest 1.5.0. Honestly, I bought a second Kompakt - another pebble - today to have as a backup should I need to send mine to Poland for whatever reason (e.g new battery). Most likely over the top and not needed, but that just shows you how much I enjoy and depend on the Kompakt.
I agree about the albums being sorted by alpha and not track number. Mentioned it a few times myself but improvements remain on the roadmap. Just to say, I think the pluses well outweigh the current minuses - not to take away from the frustrations. I guess I am a fanboy - so I see the minuses as growing pains and those that really drove me batty dissapeared late late last year. This new keyboard is ![]()
That being said, I do get it. My most nagging frustration is maps - I love usinng them but it gets you to a general area and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to put a house number and have it show. I end up on a street and just have to look at home or business numbers and find the place. Bonus: I bought a huge paper North America Road Atlas. I enjoy pulling it out upon arrival of a new city as it helps me better orient myself. I still use the openmaps on the Kompakt. Anyway, that is my most itchy itch at this time. The rest, I am waiting - the music by alpha does not work for a Requiem but not a problem for the Red Hots.
As a PS: the one thing I can’t figure out is backups via the Mudita center. I have linux on my desktop and laptop. The backup goes to 99% and says backup failed. I even drudged out an old surface to try on an MS machine and same issue. I’ve rebooted. reconnected. used usb-c to usb-c. different cables. I just can’t get it to work.
THERE IS A FUNCTION WHERE YOU CAN TEACH THE KOMPAKT WORDS?! ![]()
Where can I find this feature, and how do I use it? You can click on the word you want, and it will appear in the suggestion bar in the middle, but if you type that word again, it won’t be recognized or suggested.
