Manual network selection – A long-awaited feature for frequent travellers and those in areas with unreliable automatic coverage, giving you the freedom to pick your preferred operator whenever you need it.
Thankful for the updates, but I’d really like to see some focus put into group messages and particularly handling SMS fallback for failed RCS chats. For whatever reason, the Mudita consistently misses texts that my contacts send as iMessage or RCS. With other phones, it has defaulted back to SMS when RCS fails, but with the Mudita it seems to show successful delivery from their side, but the message disappears into the void.
Hey, you’ve probably already done this, but I was having early issues with that too and after turning OFF RCS in my iphone settings, then fully disabling imessage in my Apple account, I haven’t had issues with texts that were previously done through imessage.
Hey there, I appreciate the tip! I never owned an iPhone before, but I did have RCS chats turned on previously when my sim card was in another android phone. I did go put the sim back into that phone and make sure RCS is turned off, and I have checked and verified that my number is currently de-registered from Google’s RCS list or whatever, and I still seem to be missing quite a few texts. Not sure why! But I appreciate the help.
Just saying again, here, SAME. This issue is my #1 problem with the MK right now – missed texts!!! I’m missing them when I’m in Offline+ and turn back on, when I’m out of service area and then return, or even when I’m sitting in my house, full coverage (and wifi); my service provider and friends are saying that the text appears to be delivered as normal. I have tried alternative messaging apps, clearing caches, switching carriers… everything. This must be addressed! More and more people are saying they have this problem (which is sort of a relief), but I haven’t heard Mudita address it directly yet.
I know that many will probably not be as happy as I am BUT I am really looking forward to the playlist update. It is a huge step for me to finally digitize my CD´s and load them on to my Kompakt. Thank you very much for finally making it possible to get different albums on this neat device instead of one HUGE list. I really appreciate it.
@dlsellers@Plinko and @wander If you’re expecting somebody to help you with your missing text messages, you may need to give more information such as what country you’re in and what carrier you use. I have T-Mobile in USA and got missed text messages early on when I switched over to the Kompakt, but about 48hrs after successfully disabling RCS through Google’s website, I was receiving all my texts and haven’t missed one since then (June 2nd). There was a bug that prevented group messages from showing up if you had any blocked contacts on your phone (I can’t rememeber if that was fixed in a previous update).
I also have had 0 issues receiving texts after using Offline+, they are all delivered once it is switched back.
I believe there are many other users on here that are also not having any such issues. So, perhaps start a new topic so you can discuss your issues or at the very least provide more information.
@dlsellers Our team has been quite open the fact that Mudita Kompakt does not support RCS and currently it’s not something that’s on the roadmap… As for the iMessages- I think some users have posted that if you used to have an iPhone, you have to go through a process of removing & unregistering yourself from iMessage. However, I’m not very familiar with it. Maybe someone here could shed some insight. Also- when someone who has an iPhone sends you a text from iMessage- I believe these go through Apple’s servers over the internet, not through your carrier. If your iPhone number is still registered with iMessage, Apple may keep trying to deliver messages from other iPhones as iMessages instead of SMS. Since your Android can’t receive iMessages, those texts never show up.
But, then again, I can’t be 100% sure & I will pass this info to the team.
If the carrier is not added on Android settings , volte is a no go. I have other phones that have to make update to work it. Like Samsung and Motorola etc .
Will I be able to update directly from 1.1.1 or do I need to update to 1.2.0 first?
The email subject says “UPDATE Now” but the update is not available now. Very misleading and just silly
And this time the number is… three! I got three copies of the email this time! Should I start marking the extra copies as spam?
I have posted a thread and detailed my struggle and the attempted fixes I’ve tried, including disabling RCS (it wasn’t enabled in the first place for me) found here: Missing SMS with offline+?. I don’t have any blocked contacts.
Count yourself lucky. There are people experiencing this confusing and frustrating issue (missing texts). Assuming you’re trying to help, I am in the USA and currently on an AT&T mvno (US Mobile) after switching from US Cellular – I have experienced missing texts through both carriers. I am open to any suggestions.
Thank you for the response, urszula. I understand that RCS support has never been on the road map, but there is still something seemingly different about how the Kompakt handles attempts from other devices to deliver these types of messages. I have used this same sim card in other phones that don’t support RCS and I have never had missing texts until I started using the Kompakt.
My number has never been registered with iMessage, and I have had my number deregistered from RCS for many months. Like @wander, I am also in the USA and using AT&T through an MVNO (US Mobile), who told me that from their perspective, the messages are coming in and being successfully delivered to the Kompakt.
I understand this is a hard issue to nail down, but I hope the team will at least try to look into it. There are other users experiencing similar frustrations.
I would like to chime in regarding the SMS issue many seem to be having. I have never had my number registered with imessage or Google. I have been using de-googled androids for many years, and have been using T-Mobile US for most of that time. This issue occurs without using the Offline+ switch. I’ve never had this issue on any previous phones.
Is the engineering team looking into this? While I’ve worked around some of the other bugs with this device, this is a critical issue; I can’t use this phone if it drops messages
