Loves to turn on in pocket and waste battery

Hey yall! I carry my phone around in my pocket a lot. I’m noticing that lately it will turn on - sometimes even the flashlight or even music - for no apparent reason. I’m glad I’ve figured it out cause I was so worried as to why my battery has been super low. Anyway - anyone know how to get this to stop? I don’t use pin or the fingerprint scanner. It’s usually in my pocket alone and mostly linen or sweatpants material. Would love to fix this.

Do you lock the Kompakt (so that the lotus icon and “Mudita Kompakt” appear on the screen) before you put it in your pocket?

I lock it before I put it in my pocket.

@citruslemon and @pictoys:

It seems to me that somehow the power button on the side of each of your Kompakt cellphones is getting pushed sufficiently to turn on the “Swipe up” screen, which is touch-sensitive.

I do not have that problem when I put my locked Kompakt into a pocket, but my Kompakt is surrounded by a case from Mudita, which helps to isolate the power button.

@citruslemon Our team is aware of the fingerprint sensitivity issue & they’re working on it. Thank you for your patience.

@urszula, please note that @citruslemon mentioned:

I don’t use fingerprint either and recently my MK made several pocket calls. In my case it all started with one missed call. I’m thinking perhaps the missed call unlocked the screen and then the avalanche started?

@urszula : thank you for your quick responses. And please, please please roll this out as a critical bug fix before July if in any way possible. This is pretty insane behavior. I cannot recommend the device currently to anyone and given the still mysterious nature of the bug I am not 100% convinced you found all the ways this is happening even though you say you are aware. But hopefully I am wrong on this one. Would be great if you at least post more information on this: how does it happen, how to avoid it etc. When exactly will you roll out the bugfix.

Can’t come fast enough. I made the tough decision today to wait until the update to carry the phone. It’s butt dialed multiple people, texted one some crazy stuff, and dialed 911, all without my knowledge.

I agree. My phone now lives in the drawer for the same reason. I will probably wait for a fix before using the Kompakt further

While this issue has been discussed at length, I keep my Kompakt OFF with Airplane mode ON most of the time. I tend to agree with tilmanbergt & texasag7599:

In our little spot in the hills with 3-bars, after a couple SMS msgs and a couple phone calls (all I got was voice mail from my buddies), I did as I freqently do and turn ON Airplane Mode and turned OFF my Kompakt (No, never setup a fingerprint). Phone said it was OFF. Put the phone in the little canvas bag, then into my lumbar pack in the outside pocket (a loose fit) and the sucker turned on before I could even buckle up my pack and head out!

  1. I changed my emergency call number to 311 instead of 911 (you can look it up in the States)
  2. I will use that Offline+ slider more frequently now when I turn OFF my Kompakt. I used Offline+ frequently when I kept the phone on while hiking so the GPS was happy and provided a rapid pinpoint on my downloaded map.
  3. Never understood the whole fingerprint thing with cell phones? Perhaps I’m just a luddite? Fingerprints are for when you are booked into jail or applying for some crazy stupid job I never should have worked in the first place. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
  4. If I’m in an Emergency, I don’t need an Emergency short-cut. It’s a few button presses to bring up the phone app and press 911. How did humans ever survive without some emergency shortcut button on their phones? We must have been savages!
  5. I’m still using my Kompakt, but probably only surface on WiFi calling or cellular service an hour or so a day. I went years w/o a cell phone, so not big deal here.

I read all the comments about this emergency dialing prior to actually using my phone, so the first thing I did was to change the number from 112 to just 1. That sorts that… but I find myself constantly overthinking what is my phone doing in my pocket…
I am being very careful how I handle the phone when I put it in my pocket, because any accidental brush with skin prompts the dial pad.
It’s really getting to me and plays on my nerves :grimacing:
I wanted to get the Kompakt to forget about my phone and help heal the constant urge that I need to pick it up for no apparent reason… and I ended up stressing about it even more.

In spite of that, I decided to keep the phone, because I like it very much and I really hope that Mudita makes good on their promises, and optimises the Kompakt.
