Loose Charge Port on Mudita Kompakt

After just a couple months of use, the charge port on my Mudita Kompakt no longer seems to hold the usb-C cable securely. I have tried multiple cables, and they are all a bit loose and wiggly in the charge port, and I have to exert some pressure on them to get the phone to charge. If I release the pressure, it sometimes keeps charging, but if the phone gets jostled or nudged even slightly, it stops charging. I have shone a flashlight into the port and do not see any dust or other buildup that might prevent the usb-c charger cable from seating securely in the port. Has anyone else experienced this issue, is it a possible defect, or can the Mudita team provide any support or troubleshooting advice for this issue?

@dlsellers I think this is a case for customer support, perhaps a warranty replacement. Please contact them at SUPPORT@Mudita.com & let them know what’s happening. If you have pix or video to help show the problem that would be great. I will tell them to expect your email, so that it’s handled right away. Let me know your ticket number once you’ve submitted it.

mine was the same last week (woke up and it hadnt charged at all, went in wonky and didnt seem to engage properly), and it turned out to be some pocket lint jammed right down the bottom of the port. took some real work with a paperclip to remove it, and i was surprised it was causing so many issues. have bought some USBC dust plugs now, which work great, especially since i only charge it twice a week, so its not too much fuss to remove it.

OH WOW- I never thought about that. @dlsellers Please check if it’s pocket lint.

Thanks for this info @xer0

I tried cleaning it out with a paper clip, and although I didn’t notice any lint come out, and I can’t see anything stuck in there when I look with a flash light, it did seem to help a little. The usb-c charger feels a little more snug now, but I do still have to be fairly careful with it because if it gets jostled a little, it stops charging. Not a huge deal most of the time since I don’t charge it that often, but it can be pretty inconvenient when trying to charge it while driving (if I’m trying to use navigation, for instance). I’ll keep an eye on it, and open a support ticket if it seems to get worse and isn’t lint related. Thanks!

USBC dust plugs

I didn’t even know these existed. Cool!

My fav option is magnetic cables, i.e. the plug and the cable being separate, magnet inside keeps them together. This way plug is still plugged in, and in case of tripping on a cable, it’s more likely to detach rather than pulling the phone onto the floor.

recomend doing a bit of reading on these, as they are highly recomended against in many places/scenarios
