I’ve been enjoying the custom apps other Kompakt users have made (Calm-Apps, Launchers, etc.), so I figured I’d take a crack at the thing that’s been bugging me the most: the calendar. I love the design of the original calendar app, but having no sync really annoys me. Third-party ones like Etar just look awful on E-Ink in my opinion.
Anyways: I tried to clone the native Kompakt calendar app as closely as possible and extended it’s functionality with DAVx5 support
Sounds promising, looking forward to give it a try (currently using Fossify Calendar with DavX5 but I really like the native calendar simplicity. Unfortunately it doesn’t with the native Android calendar which is a missed oppurtunity as contacts do, through CardDav.
Does it support American time (AM/PM) and date (MM/DD/YYYY) format as well? Is it possible to get event notifications the day before the event at a specific time?
Hey, it supports 24-hour format and (am/pm) and automatically takes the one you set in android settings. Dates are always written out (e.g. 26 April) so there is no real date formatting anywhere. For event reminders there are currently a couple of options (5 min, 15 min, 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week), but there is no way to set the exact reminder time/date at the moment.
Actual audible notifications are still in the works right now, but seem to be working well in my development version. Still need some time though to see if and how the battery optimization kills it
Wow, you guys really make this phone from being an okayish experience to a perfect E-Ink-use-your-phone-less solution. Its really a joy to have all these tool-apps (meaning not capital interested apps with a lot of commercials or addiction factors) on it!!
good call, can’t believe I haven’t thought of that. the current release doesn’t have it yet, but I’ve been working on implementing it and the next one 100% will.
As far as I’m aware, Outlook isn’t compatible with DaVx5. There is however a commercial variant, managed DavX5 for which you can request a free test license. I don’t have a clue how long that license will work and what the costs are of purchasing it, should it expire. Have you tried to sideload the Outlook app, by chance?

Can we have an American date format as an option (“Sunday, May 1”)
In the agenda view, the date of the event is hard to distinguish from other events and other dates. Can we have the dates underlined or bigger perhaps than the event and time? Or have the font weight be stronger?
Can we have multiple reminders for one event?
Can we have a snooze option for events in the fullscreen notification?

Thank you so much for this, it’s fantastic and has made moving to the Kompakt full time much more realistic for me. One thing I noticed is that all day events from my google calendar are appearing in the All day section for the day after too- e.g my ‘Bank Holiday’ reminder for yesterday is still visible in the All-day section today. I’m wondering if its something like the Google all day event is being treated as midnight to midnight and therefore spanning across two days?
Looks like I will be testing this one out. As an Outlook slave (via work) I need to be able to import from an ICS link to se my work schedule. Will ICSx5 work as well as DAVx5?

I could overlook a lot of the minor issues with the phone because I love it so much, but it was really difficult for me to not have my medication reminders and I hadn’t been able to come up with a reasonable solution. I’ve now set a daily event on KompaktCalender - problem solved!
