First of all, thank you, Mudita team, for launching Kompakt. It’s a unique device which presents nice balance between smart- and dumb-phone.
I’ve been using mine for about a week now but I can’t get VoLTE to work. I’m based in Poland and my carrier is nju mobile (Orange). My * # * # 4 6 3 6 # * # * menu reveals that my phone is “unregistered” in the IMS service despite the fact that I’m connected over LTE.
Digging into the topic a little bit, I found that Orange has a list of “approved” devices. I suspect that devices which are not on the list are banned from accessing VoLTE.
Now, my questions:
Is there anything I can do to enable VoLTE on my Kompakt? If not, is it on Mudita Team’s roadmap to co-operate with Orange (and possibly other carriers) to get Kompakt approved for VoLTE?
I wonder what is other user’s experience? Did you get VoLTE to work? If so, what is your carrier? I could consider switching if I knew which ones support VoLTE on Kompakt.
I’m really hoping to get VoLTE to work because otherwise the call quality is mediocre.
i have similar issue, im in Portugal and we have a new carrier since last november , some phones need to be updated , but i have some generic phones that volte works really well, my motorola razr ultra works fine , nokia xpressmusic to and other like punkt mp02. i have bought a simple phone and even that one volte works
But whenever I call someone, the “LTE” icon in the top bar changes to 3G and I have very basic call quality.
From your photo I conclude you’ve got VoLTE to work in Play – is that right?
@szk Yes, I’ve got PLAY & I’ve really have not experienced any issues. In the last two months, I’ve traveled with it to Athens, Rome & Istanbul, and really great roaming EU coverage.
What other carriers are known to work with VoLTE on Kompakt (besides Play)? Is there a plan to support Orange? I think it’s one of the biggest carriers in PL.
It could be that it’s in an area that has limited coverage.
Not to knock down Orange- but I use to have them & whenever I traveled up north via A1 (the highway) I would have dead spots & limited connection. Once there was an accident & I had to get of the highway & go through some back roads & there were places where I had NO SERVICE. I switched after that.
