My new, out-of-the-box Kompakt on the latest OS update (K 1.1.1) and does not pick the AP directly above me in the ceiling, which is strange. It seems to try to connect to another AP. My system is Netgear (this weekend I will switch to Ubiquiti to see if that changes things). The Kompakt reports “No internet” and when I move to another AP in the house it gives full bars. I return to my room and one time it did seem to switch to my room’s AP. But when I restart, first it does not auto-join my network (is this the expected behavior, no “auto-join”?) and it seems to try again to connect to the other AP when I manually connect, but reports again “No internet” and has just the dot with the warning triangle.
I have a WiFi scanner on my Mac and the signal strength in my room is is 87% with 54 db SNR on 5GHz and 97% with 69 dB SNR on 2.4GHz. The SSID is the same from AP to AP.
I’ve set the time to my locale (no change), turned the radio off, waited 15 seconds, turned it back on (no change), gone into airplane mode and back (no change), forgotten the SSID and reconnected (no change) - I’m a hardware and network engineer so I kinda know all the tricks to reset the device but I’m about ready to give up. Any suggestions?
Based on my experience it seems the phone is connecting to the router but not the internet, via the modem. Troubleshooting can be trial and error, but I think you know what you are doing
Consider setting WiFi off on the Kompakt and use the phone SIM data to perform the software update?

Thanks again @smuch for helping. It connects to the Internet and I’ve downloaded / installed the update, by going into another space where the Kompakt is willing to connect to the AP. It seems that its radio modem doesn’t handle mesh networks that well, at least not the Netgear mesh that’s here.
I’m swapping out the Netgear for all Ubitquiti tomorrow (this was something I had in the works already, this issue just makes it higher priority) and see if that fixes the issue. If not, I’ll submit a support ticket.
Consider giving separate names for your 2.4 and 5,0 network connections on the router and APs, that may work better. Connect devices to one or the other. I hope that makes sense without getting into details.
Update: I didn’t realize that updates are sequential, so I’m in the process of updating to the latest latest. At this point, my Kompakt is auto-joining and seems to select the AP in my room, I assume because it shows full bars. But I’m still updating and will report back how I end up. I’m glad that there’s an option now for 80% battery charge and a root-level menu item for Updates, nice!
