I would love this feature, and it would make the phone even more unique in comparison to other dumb phones, especially the Light Phone. LED notifications in general have usually been popular with many Android users. Its implementation would be most useful if we could use it with third-party apps as well.
Otherwise, having to constantly wake/unlock the phone to see what notifications I have missed just sucks, especially in 2026 when most of us are used to AOD. An optional AOD on the Kompakt would be nice as well. Again, it would only be useful if third-party apps had notification access as well. Even Light is opening up its notification access to third-party apps, and Light is much more conservative than Mudita.
More than just a cool feature! Iāve always intentionally selected devices which could provide some minimal indicator that a notification exists so I would never have to stop and check. A discrete LED has been my preferred solution on devices with power hungry screens. The eink screen adds an opportunity to float a zero illumination indicator to the lock screen, too. Either one would be really nice. Donāt think of it as an enticement to pick up the phone, but mostly as a reliable indicator that thereās no good reason to. If even that felt disruptive, I could always flip the device face down.
Iām discovering how nice it was, never needing to randomly pick up a phone to find out if something happened. Having to manually pick up the Kompakt and peek inside to find out if notifications exist has been challenging that mindful habit.
