Is it possible to move the phone app off the front screen of the Kompakt ?Is it possible to have the time show on locked screen?

Hi <

I’m having a difficult time with pocket dials on the kompakt.
If I forget to close the phone and put it in my jacket it almost inevitably calls someone on my contacts.

If I could move the phone app off the home screen this would be a great help.

Also is it possible to have the clock constantly displayed? Half my pocket dials are because I unlock to check the time but don’t lock the phone and put it back in my pocket.

Thanks

Do you have a pin code lock or a fingerprint lock or both? These pocket dials should not be happening.

I’d suggest auto-lock and putting phone in a pocket with screen facing outside.

Is the pin code or fingerprint required to make a call? at the moment I just have it set up with swipe up but that’s not the problem ,the problem is that if i forget to lock the phone with the powerbutton im almost guaranteed a pocket dial

The pin code or the fingerprint lock is there as a safeguard- it does prevent pocket dials.

Urzula I inevitably will forget to lock the phone at least a few times a day before I put it in a bag or in my pocket. In these 15 seconds before the auto lock kicks in it has a high rate of pocketdials for me. So none of this has anything to do with the fingerprints etc

The issue is it just takes one touch to open the phone app , then one more touch anywhere on the screen to call a contact.

That’s just two touches to make a call.

I think I’m going to have to move on from this phone if nothing can be done. I’ve never had as bad a pocket dialler from years of having dozens of phones.

With the new update is it possible to make a third party app the main call app? That way at least I could get the calling app off the main screen and into the apps.

Sir, did you ever own a smartphone? Not ironically.
Every touch-screen smartphone has this issue unless you lock the phone yourself before putting it in the pocket. If you’re worried you’ll forget about it, either outwards-facing phone or the method you mentioned can be the only solution - but practically, with a 3rd party dialer being in the apps, it’s just one touch more away from pocket dialing (touch to get to Apps, then the call app from there). I think it will improve pocket dial issue statistically but will not remove it completely.

I remember even having a pocket dial with Nokia 3310 aeons ago when screen lock was not a big deal - but this was under very unlucky movement combination to get into call history and call the top entry.

@jambon I’m sorry to hear about your frustration, but I do have to agree with @buiosu here.
Pocket-dialing can definitely be frustrating, and I understand why it feels disruptive when it happens more than once. Touchscreen devices in general rely on either manual locking or very short auto-lock timers to prevent accidental input, so Mudita Kompakt behaves similarly to most smartphones in that regard.

Are you, by chance, switching from a flip phone?
Right now, the best prevention is making sure the phone is locked before it goes into a pocket or bag.

That said, feedback like yours helps us understand usage habits from different types of phone backgrounds. I’ve passed this along to the team so we can explore whether additional safeguards or optional settings could help minimise accidental calling in future updates.

If you continue to run into trouble, feel free to share a bit more about your setup or how you use the device, and we can look together at what might help.

In the trenches of life its inevitable that a phone will get stuffed into a pocket or bag unlocked occasionally. But for me the rate of punishment with pocket dials here with the kompakt for this occasional error is much much higher than it has been with any other phone I have owned.

The issue is that with kompakts system call app the app button is pretty big so easily hit , then the next screen is the contacts or call log where a hit landed anywhere on that screen will instantly send a call out. So that’s 1 hit on a pretty big button plus then a second hit anywhere at all on the screen.

This is a much smaller margin for error than with my previous smartphones which needed 4 accidental hits to send a call out on very small buttons which were only a small fraction of the screen size.

I am hoping that having a thrid party call app in the apps screen will mean more accidental hits to get a call out plus I may even be able to hide the app although im unsure if hiding it will effect my ability to recieve notice of incoming calls.

Im not being pedantic here , I am genuinely fed up with having to text people to exscuse the pocket dials from the Kompakt.

Instead of using a third-party phone app, why not give InkOS a shot? If you use that instead of the stock launcher, you have pretty much complete control over what’s on your home screen. You can have just the clock on there if you want.
