Internet Radio App

Could anyone recommend a simple internet radio app for Kompakt that lets you stream live radio stations, such as the BBC?
The transistor from F-Droid comes closest, but the audio quality is not the best: Transistor - Simple Radio App | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository
Thanks!

I settled on the Transistor app to stream internet radio. The app worked fine before I updated my phone to version 1.0.4, playing continuously whether I locked the screen or not. After the update this morning, the app stops streaming a few minutes after I start playback.

Does anyone know what causes this? Thank you!

I forgot to mention that I use inkOS, so I’m not sure if cancelled playback has to do with it. Thanks again!

@zyny inkOS can’t stop other apps.

So like xer0 suggested you need to unrestrict the app to allow it to run in the background.

Thanks so much for your quick reply! I just did that, and the music is still playing!

Forgive me if this isn’t the best thread to ask, but is it possible to see playback controls on the lock screen? Thank you!

@zyny The mudita music controller is tied to Mudita music player only. They don’t allow other apps to access it.

Gotcha! Good to know.

Nice work with inkOS - I’ve been using it for a few days and am still getting used to it. Having a bit of trouble swiping above the three dots on the right side of the screen to switch between sets of apps on the home screen; it feels like your finger has to swipe precisely over the menu dots. Is there any setting that would make it smoother (more sensitive)?

@zyny At the moment in v0.3 there isn’t. In v0.4 there is, still working on it. You have to get used to it long swipes and no dragging. It doesn’t work like normal free swiping.

I’m adding long swipe up and long swipe down so users can map those to the app drawer or something else. And reduced the page changing to short swipes. But both will be configurable with a Treshhold Slider.

This and more to come in v0.4, this month.

I’d been using RadioDroid, but it seems it’s not actively developed anymore, including a fork that exists only on Github.

Recently most of my SomaFM stations broke, and I’ve found they are broken within radio-browser.info, which many or most of these radio apps rely upon for their streaming info.

It’s not possible to edit or manually add stations with RadioDroid, and Transistor finds but will not add the missing SomaFM stations, so I’m looking for a new app too.

At the moment, I only have BBC radio streaming off the Transistor app, and it is working just fine. I also tried RadioUpnp from F-Droid, but noticed it opens the web radio link in a browser before activating playback, so it adds an extra step, which made me come back to Transistor.
