Intent Filter Verification Service App stopped working

Hey gang, probably from fiddling around with sideloading, I am getting an “Intent Filter Verification Service App stopped working” notice pop-up on my device. I read that you can sometimes fix this issue by clearing the cache/storage for that app, but when I go into the app management (including the app manager app I downloaded), I’m not able to clear the cache. Any suggestions. Thanks for reading and for all your help.

I have the same issue, at random times on Mudita apps and menu/settings screens too.

To see if we can work out the problem app My sideloaded apps are - Gboard, Whatsapp, Organic Maps, Onecalendar, GMaps WV, Thunderbird.

It happens when all are forced close too however…

Just replying to bump this thread in case anyone found a solution. I don’t want to have to do a factory reset. Thanks for your help peoples.

@jasinw I actually asked our team about this & they are curious about all the other sideloaded apps that you have on your phone? Perhaps it’s something that we have not yet considered.

I have this problem as well. I have been sideloading apps on my phone with everything and everything to see what combination of apps I want to settle with. I have installed Whatsapp, Gboard, Google Chrome (works well) , F-droid, Google Maps (works well), Thunderbird, Stratum (Authenticator Pro), Tailscale, Spotify, Beeper, microG (via f-droid) and uninstalling any or all does not prevent the popup notifications from popping up. The frequency of popups does change when I delete the microg and Google related apps.

But what does help (temporarily) is going into Developer Options and then searching for “Intent Filter Verification Service” then Force Stop and I am then spared the popups for many (6+ )hours.

Strangely I have not had any popups now for probably a week and I don’t recall doing anything!

I think I solved it. I was troubleshooting using adb and ChatGPT to look at error logs and it looked like mudita messenger was causing the error because it wasn’t set as my default messenger. I have been using google messenger. So I disabled the mudita default messenger and so far that seems to have done the trick.

I’m still getting it all the time now and I have not added anything!

Has anyone managed to resolve this issue? The error message started appearing when I installed Google Maps. Unfortunately, uninstalling it didn’t change anything.

This seems to have worked for me. My phone still works fine after running this ADB command but I do not know if it is a bad idea to run this command. I have Google Maps as well (and MicroG). I was about to format/restore my phone but then tried this command. adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.android.statementservice

How did you do this?

Same for me. I tried installing Google Maps Go last night and even after uninstalling the error persists.

Has anyone figured out how to resolved this error/issue (happened to me too after installing Google Maps + Google Maps Go!)?

Hey, I had the same issue after downloading a “Google Maps” app from Aurora; Sadly the only fix was to do a full phone reset to factory… And never reinstalled that app again after that…

Thanks for the reply alexand3r. I was actually able to (at least momentarily!) resolve the issue with much appreciated guidance from gezimos! Will post an update momentarily in case anyone else is still have or yet to be having this issue.
UPDATE
Notes:

1 - Activate Developer Option and enable USB Debugging (shown in the first 16 sec of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=1CC85wXaO60)
2 - Go to https://app.webadb.com/
3 - Connect your Kompakt to your computer via USB.
4 - Click “Connect” in the menu on the left.
5 - Insert “pm clear com.android.statementservice” (without the quotes) and press enter.
6 - Press “Disconnect” and disconnect your device.
7 - Restart your device.
The pop up error should (hopefully) be gone for you too - good luck!

Just chiming in that for me it was also Google Maps Go that triggered these popups. Just tried the @gezimos fix. Hoping that will fix it.

The website webadb is unable to recognize my mudita as a device and I can’t click on connect, any advice?
