Importing (and exporting) contacts

Hi folks, just got my new Kompakt, me happy
BUT : i entered all my old contacts from my dumbphone (about 300) in a LibreOffice Calc sheet, very simple, 3 columns : First name, last name, phone number. I can export it with many options. I tried many (UTF-8 or Win1252, “,” or “;” as a separator, use quotes even for empty strings, etc.) I always get the error : “We didn’t recognise some of the data in the file. Check that it only contains contact data and try again.”

So i searched the forums, i found this thread but i don’t want that many columns, and still, it seems unstable and undocumented :grimacing:

Then i thought i’m going to create a contact on my phone, export it and see what formatting i need. Couldn’t export, and found this thread. Very strange exporting contacts is not possible. I don’t want to install third-party apps yet and dev said >
The issue is - though - that Fossify Contacts affects default Contacts app and can cause instability of the Kompakt phone
So please : what format for csv ? simple, with just 3 columns ?

And a remark to finish : the biggest hesitation I had before buying a Kompakt is why all devs started all basic apps (contacts, calendars, alarms, podcast and ebook reader etc.) from scratch ? There are so many opensource apps that do the job better ! They could have integrated and optimized them for the Kompakt and everybody would be happier… Users would have better apps and devs would have less requests from users  I had to say it, it’s done.

Thanks for any help regarding csv import !

I could export my contacts from my iPad and import them in the MK. But many fields where missing as type of number for example. I’ve installed (I know, you don’t want to) DAVx5 to sync my contacts and now all is ok.

Thanks for your reply. Would Davx5 be able to import my csv file from my computer in contacts ? (there’s no way my dumbphone can connect to a computer or have an app)

I posted a template here:

Would you be able to modify it? Is that useful?

Mmh, you should import your files into an account of perhaps your mail provider, or Google or another server.
And then DAVx5 could sync them to your MK.
Good news are:

 • that make you a good backup always up to date
 • It can make the same with your calendar.

Ok I could import. I changed the labels of my 3 columns with the ones given in the template : Last Name, First Name, Phone 1 - Value and it worked. Geez. So much time for something that should be so simple. And by the way : no way for the phone type to be sth else than “other”. Even with 4th column named “Phone 1 - Label” (as in provided template) or “Phone 1 - Type” (as suggested in same thread). Devs it wouldn’t cost much time to document columns labels and values in the Mudita Center ! and when you provide a template, please provide a fully working one :expressionless:
