Hello, I just got Mudita Kompakt the other day and am having issue receiving messages from iPhone users. When I send a message to someone with an iPhone, they see the message, but when they send a message back to me, it gets sent as an iMessage (not SMS) and goes to a different person. Only when they change the text to SMS and not iMessage does it send to me. So now, every person I want to text with an iPhone has to switch off iMessage, or brute force it to recognize its not iMessage by switching it frequently to SMS. This shouldn’t be an issue for a brand new phone. iPhone seem to recognize the Mudita Kompakt as an iPhone for some reason, and I do not know how this could be resolved, but I wanted to bring to attention, in hopes that it can be resolved quickly.
Welcome! This forum is a great place to get answers from the Mudita team as well as fellow customers such as me. Let me try to help.
Did you move your SIM card from an iPhone to your Kompakt?
If so, then this post should help. Granted, it talks about Google Messages and not the SMS app on the Kompakt. But, the operating system behind the Kompakt is based on AOSP, which is the basis for Google Android as well.
I’ve had this issue happen with just about any kind of phone. I recommend you put your sim back into the iPhone, go into settings → messages, and turn iMessage off. Maybe even send some SMS with the iPhone before putting the sim back into the Kompakt.
This is a common problem when people stop using iMessages., I’ve helped friends who switched to flip phones or android phones in the past with this same problem.
I did not. I moved my Sim Card from an Android phone (A KAT Flip phone, if that makes a difference), and once I transferred the SIM, I called my service provider (T Mobile) and changed my phone number
I’m aware of this, but it’s only a short term solution. I would have to bother everyone one I know to turn off iMessage in order to message me, right?
I’ll look into this.
You just have to enter your phone number on that link if you scroll to the bottom and it will remove you from imessage. Don’t have imessage users you know do that
I did not previously have an iPhone, but after reading your comment, I think what might be the issue, is that the previous person with my phone number still has iMessage set up, and that might be causing trouble
Edit: my previous phone was not an iPhone, but I have had iPhones in the past. Many phones ago
Huh. okay. I’ll try it and see.
Okay, it says I de registered! I’ll test it in a bit with a friend who has an iPhone. Apologies if any of my comments seemed too snarky. This has been frustrating for me. Thank you for your help!
Well done, @jordan! I never had an iPhone, but now I have a simple way to help iPhone users (27.73% global smartphone market share) who want to move away from the iPhone – such as to the Kompakt!
Its seemed to have worked with one person! So I imagine it will with more. Still gonna test it out more. Thank you again! ![]()
Wow! Good to know, I am getting new service/number as well. That is crazy but makes sense it could happen.
