Reviving the thread, anyone know a good alternative to Google Translate?

As many others have said: Signal.

Also: I am using VLC a lot (this includes for streaming radio stations as well).

I’d love it if the Music app could have the same (or close to) functionality (e.g. playlists, format support, and streaming) as VLC.

And I’d love if the E-Reader app would display text in black instead of faded grey (I use LxReader instead), and if the Notes app would support external keyboards (you can use them but text doesn’t scroll upwhen you read the bottom of the screen), so I use sideloaded Upnote instead.

Overall though, I can’t complain. I love that Google isn’t inside my phone any more. I like the clean minimalism (including the Offline+ ‘kill’ switch), but most of all I like the de-Googled Android privacy. This was the reason for me coming to Kompakt (and the fact that I love reading - so e-ink was a big draw).

@buiosu Does DeepL have an app? An apk version.

Interesting discussion. For me it was quite the other way around: The only two apps which I’ve found really necessary on my smartphone were those for banking and my public transport ticket. I’ve found a good alternative for both of them. All other stuff was just for convenience, entertainment and distraction. So I’m quite happy with Mudita Kompakt in its vanilla form :yin_yang:
