I would prefer real YT - You Tube studio so one can a bit edit and upload videos, not just stream - listen
Kompakt cannot support that, given that Kompakt explicitly excludes Google services.
You can watch YT with no comments and no videos for 18 plus without being logged
Yes I forgot I cannot use studio. Damn it, there was a time when YT was not Googles
I would choose an app which creates a blue zone around the phone.
I would also choose an app which produces a laser which could only be used to permanently disintegrate harmful 5G antenna, and makes a cool noise while doing it. Pew-pew!
Interesting choices
So you would need no stinkin sideloading
I imagine super lyrics going with such a super hero
For faster Internet, we should allow higher density waves coming through, they what they say?
This one is in Serbian, but I hope Poles will get it
A messaging app (either WhatsApp, Signal or Telegram) and an English dictionary app (Oxford Dictionary for example) will be extremely useful!
I agree so Signal and dictionary or kind of non Google Translate Translator should be even part of OS and not sideloading.
I wouldn’t download anything even though I’ve been scratching my head about how to continue streaming music and audiobooks.
The whole idea of the Kompakt is to be offline more.
With a streaming app, one could easily fall down the rabbit hole. I could be sitting in my car — in a scrolling coma — trying to choose an album. Radiohead? Philip Glass? Die Größten Schlager Hits Aller Zeiten?
Instead, I’ll be planning my downloads in advance and going deeper with my listening. Just like the mindful before-times.
The limitations are the liberation. Let’s not for forget that.
No more apps.
Improving the existing apps would be a better use of precious development time. We’ve already heard about the ambitions for the messaging app. An elegant solution.
“Weniger, aber besser”*
(*Not a schlager song. Yet.)
Are you an Audible subscriber?
Not yet, but I may have to become one.
I’ve posted and followed the other topics on audiobooks including your helpful replies, so I understand what’s required.

Introduce medi music
Its great to have composer,. but I would license one tune from Vangelis, one from Enigma,
one from Sabres of paradise, budhist monks, Aum Shanti and one Morgan Heritage song
and put it as exclusive treat, as mp3 for all devices and inside Medi app.
When the same question (more or less) was asked in my backer survey, I added Bandcamp to the list of apps I may try to sideload.
Hmmm, but Bandcamp downloads are DRM free. You can easily play them on Kompakt without any additional software — just like an old Walkman.
Add Bandcamp to your phone and you’ve got a rabbit hole. Down you go with Alice scrolling and strolling in Wonderland.
Let’s rejoice in the beauty of DRM free Bandcamp and decide at home what albums we’re taking with us for the day.
Let’s embrace the obstacles to infinite-choice-always.
PS Thanks for reminding me about Bandcamp. A lovely record store. Perhaps between Bandcamp and Presto Music, I can give up streaming music and actually commit to serious listening that I’m prepared to pay for — album by album.
Bandcamp isnt a “rabbit hole” app for me, unlike many other apps. But youre right, so long as I have a good way to listen to music I’ve downloaded from bandcamp, Im good.
I am old school my own mp3 guy (plus dub on android, winamp / sonique on PC) but I ll give band camp a try
In my experience, such services are OK for pop genres, but something like roots reggae / dub is often unkown to them, or rock garage bands
