Dear
I cannot find a way to silence the start up sound on the Kompakt. How do I do this?
Welcome to the Mudita Community, Neeky.
Which startup sound do you mean, exactly? I don’t have a startup sound on any of my Kompakts. I assume your question is regarding the Mudita Kompakt? I checked in Settings and below the volume sliders (which are also enabled for over 50%) is an Advanced button and I can’t find any settting to turn a startup sound on or off. I have lock screen sound and haptic feedback disabled, and vibration during incoming calls as well, the rest is enabled. Yet I don’t have a startup sound. Are you sure it’s not a notification? Or are you running an alternatative launcher? Perhaps you’re running a different firmware version (I’m running 1.4.0 btw)?
Best regards,
Marco
Thank you Marco for looking into it.
Indeed Mudita Kompakt phone. The sound rings after using the sim pincode. I noticed it is the notification sound. So I changed Koshi 2 to Drums and now it is Drums that plays after filling in the sim pincode. When I slide the Ring and Notification sound to 0 it does not produce the sound. But then I also don’t have any sound for incomming calls. In advanced I disabled all the options.
When I copy your options, I still have the notification sound running at start up.
Running 1.4.0 as well.
Hi Neeky,
Thanks for your reply.
I myself always disable the SIM PIN, so maybe there’s the difference. I have never used a SIM PIN except when receicing a new SIM card, in which case I need to use an old iPhone to activate the SIM the first to connect to the cellular network and which is when I disable the SIM PIN as well before inserting it into one of my Mudita’s. I honestly would need to figure out if and where it’s possible to disable SIM PIN in Mudita OS. There might be a shortcut to this, but the easiest way (to me) is to grab my old iPhone out of the drawer, as, like I mentioned, I do it during first activation..
Maybe the SIM PIN approval message is the culprit and it’s not a startup sound but a notification sound you’re hearing, especially since you describe it’s the default notification sound. Whether it’s a visible or hidden notification (like the suppressed notifications which DuraSpeed, the memory managing app produces), this could trigger the sound your hearing. (And, off-topic, DuraSpeeds’ notifications are - as mentioned- supressed by the Mudita stock launcher, so you’ll hear a notification but see nothing. Good thing there’s an easy fix).
You can easily try out whether unlocking using the SIM PIN is the cause, by (temporarily) disabling the SIM PIN and see if the sound after startup disappears. Don’t forget to write it down temporarily, if necessary, so you can restore it afterwards.
Please be so kind to let us know if this solves the notification you’re experiencing.
With kind regards,
Marco
Hi!
In my case, it’s the service provider’s popup message saying the roaming is enabled what gives me a chime.
Aha, this might be the case as well… Does anyone know how to turn it off?
I sometimes find myself in situations where it is disturbing to have a phone sound go off but I do need to start up the phone.
Thank you Marco, if the other solution does not work I will look into this!
& @kirkmahoneyphd I do not want to always toggle off the system sounds before powering off the phone. I do not find any permanent toggles for start up sound and I do believe it is indeed the notification sound from the sim connecting to roaming, but cannot find how to disable notification sounds…
I had the same problem with a notification sound from the System-UI when starting the Kompakt and I could stop it following this instructions:
I eventually managed to fix it with the command adb shell settings put system notification_sound null. The unfortunate part is that now I cannot use the system notification sounds, which I liked a lot. I cannot find their file/mp3 either to still be able to use them. They do not show in the file folders.
I put my thumb over the speaker and that’s good enough to silence it.
I think that the startup sound is unnecessary, it should be off by default.
Asking why the sound occurs so much? - I rarely hear it.
I don’t mean to be intrusive but I am curious. Why do you power off the phone? I do not power off my phones often, basically only when I do a software update and reset is necessary I do use the offline slider and the battery consumption is not much at all.
I am very ignorant on this… SIM Pin?
The phone was new to me at the time of starting this post. In the meanwhile I also rarely put off the phone and instead use the offline switch
Very convenient.
I have to admit, I never heard ANY sound on my Mudita Kompakt when starting or restarting my device. What type of sound were you hearing?
