GPS no longer working after factory resetting device

@lunaralias17 Maybe it could be a bug. Could you please contact our customer service at support@mudita.com
I think they may be able to get this sorted out for you.

I did, this was their response:

If you’ve already made sure that GPS is turned on, enabled for the Maps application, and that you tried obtaining location data while outside and with a clear view of the sky, there isn’t anything else we could currently recommend.

Due to a number of Kompakt users reporting difficulty using location data, we decided to work on adding an option to turn on assisted GPS. Doing so would help improve location accuracy and reliability to levels comparable with other phones, but at the cost of reduced privacy due to having to share location data through cellular and WiFi networks.

Once available, you will be able to choose whether you want to use assisted GPS or not. We’re currently still unable to provide any specific timeframe for when such an update could be released.

This is kind of infuriating…

A lot… there goes “de-googled” and “privacy orientated”…

@lunaralias17 I’m sorry. I know it must be frustrating, but I’m not sure what else we can try. Let me pick some brains on the team & see what they say.

Hello Urszula,
I am too receiving the same error. Tried all the suggestions I could find here on the forum. I don’t see where anyone has resolved this issue. Can you point me in the right direction for this fix?
Thank You

@tennessee Have you had GPS signal at some point & now it’s just stopped after resetting the device?

I just received my phone. It never worked. My phone also showed the weather in Warsaw, Poland when it arrived. I thought it would adjust when I turned on wifi to setup phone.

Default Weather location is set manually. Click on the Hamburger menu on top left, then press the pencil and click on Warsaw to edit your default location.

@tennessee Please make sure you have enable location sharing for BOTH Maps & Weather.

You need to be outside, with the clear view of the sky. It does not work indoors.

It worked this morning. Thank You

@tennessee AWESOME! Good to hear!
Here’s something you probably already heard before…
“Are you from Tennessee? Cuz your the only 10 I see!”

@urszula: Per what @lunaralias17 posted in June of 2025, Mudita was looking at creating an option to enable assisted GPS (“aGPS” or “A-GPS”) in the Kompakt. Did this occur? I personally would never enable it, given the privacy-invasion issue, but it would be nice either way to have a definitive answer (and one that is published in a detailed sales page).

Not yet. Our team is working on it from what I remember that it would be an opt-in /opt-out option.

I gather that Mudita changed its mind about A-GPS in only a month – between Jan 2026, above, and Dec 2025, below:

I look forward to seeing HOW Mudita will implement A-GPS, which need NOT be privacy-invading – as demonstrated by how the BraX3 cellphone implements it:
