Getting to APN settings for the Kompakt

Does anyone know how to access the APN settings for the Mudita Kompakt? I am trying to manually enter in the APN info from AT&T in order to get the device on their network.

Like many, I purchased the NA version thinking - maybe foolishly - that it would connect to the AT&T network out of the box. It didn’t, and so I’m giving this option one more try before sadly needing to get a refund.

I want to love this device but I didn’t buy it to be a wifi only device due to poor marketing and connectivity promises. I can’t do the “SIM card in a working phone and then into the Mudita” trick as my current phone is on eSIM and I don’t own another device that uses a SIM.

Anyway, when I contacted Mudita (I needed to create another ticket as my first attempt went nowhere which was frustrating), they told me I can either try the SIM swap (which is a no go) or trying to enter in the APN information from AT&T into the phone. AT&T said they can give me the information details of the APN but neither one of us was able to find where in the settings/menus one could actually enter in such information.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for reading!

Settings } network and Internet } mobile network } mobile network } advanced } APN …

My OS is set in French (I’m from Quebec), so I’m not 100 percent sure of the translation of the differents menus.

@ryang808 The options are under Network & Internet- click your network provider:

Then you can access the section with the APN settings:

I wonder since I am unable to connect to a network, this menu is not available for me? Are you using a global version of the phone - perhaps this could also be why I am not seeing that as an option.

@ryang808 I am using the Global Version of Mudita Kompakt. What network are you on?

That’s my issue, I cannot connect to any network - it’s supposed to be AT&T but they claim the device isn’t compatible with the kompakt/mudita. So I am giving this a shot except for the fact that I cannot even access the menu to input the APN. So the only thing I can connect to is the wi-fi

For me (North America optimized version), it is settings > Network and Internet > Mobile Network > Advanced > Access Point Names

I have Pure Talk which I believe is based off of AT&T. I followed their instructions on their website to get the APN set up properly.

Good luck!

@ryang808 One last thing to check:
Is this a brand new sim card that you just purchased? Or have you used this sim card in another phone?

Yeah that menu tree is not available for me when I go into networks. I only have the option to use a SIM or if I want to switch to eSIM with regards to data. WiFi is there as well but that’s it.

So I have t used a physical SIM (new or old) because my current phone/data plan uses eSIM. When I ask AT&T for the QR code they told me it won’t work with the device. Mudita support said the only other option I have is to get the APN info from AT&T which they said they would give me but there was no place within the menu options to enter it in. So as of now, I have not been able to connect this device to data since receiving it.

How long have folks been waiting for support replies via email?

The lack of support, for me, is a deal breaker. Even if they were able to “fix” anything. I’d still warn people to stay away. All I need is a prepaid mailer sent to me and it’s taking weeks with zero communication.

I went from hype train to nightmare in a matter of days. So sad.

@ryang808 I’m so sorry that you are waiting. This is not OK. I’m on it & I will do what I can to get this sorted for you ASAP.

Thank you @urszula I did hear back and a prepaid mailer has been provided. I appreciate the efforts and wish it worked out for me as the device itself seemed excellent. But I’ll be sending the device back this Monday. Thanks again.

@ryang808 I’m glad that I was able to help. Yeah, too bad it didn’t work out for you, but I totally get it- we wouldn’t want you to keep a phone you can’t use.
