I quickly got a reply and will get a replacement unit. What I wonder is whether I’ll get another one with the same issue, as petermeister.

I have a black unit. Is that a factor ? Bought it in February.

Chiming in. I have not had to subject my Kompakt screen to sustained sunlight but my expectation has always been that it should hold up well to optical glare, though not to heating arising from long term exposure in not cold or ill-ventilated surroundings.
I believe a workable solution for Mudita may be to test and issue good quality UV-blocking (or whichever part of the non-heating spectrum is responsible for specifically fading the dye) screen protectors to customers for free or a nominal charge. If the flaw is deeper, then the solution may be more onerous such as providing free screen repair kits or a reasonably low-priced repair service for this defect.

Hi ! Mudita is offering me to have my screen replaced ; if it doesn’t work, I will be offered a refund (which I think I won’t accept as I love this phone despite this issue).
I’ll let you people know how it turns out !

I have noticed this happens to my device when it is under direct sunlight outside. I didn’t think much of it being a defect or anything. I also did not notice this happening under direct sunlight indoors. Now I just make sure it is under shade when I’m outside and it has been fine. The fading I noticed would recover quickly so it never caused me any problems. I also don’t think there’s any lasting damage to the screen.

Makes me really wonder if I have to go through the hassle of having my screen replaces (which Mudita offers me). Well, it would be probably useful for the others.

Oh no, as a Texan facing a 100F week, this is making me nervous! 
I just got this phone a few days ago, and really love it! But I do need it for GPS and driving in the car.
I haven’t noticed this issue yet, but I’m scared now

It actually doesn’t seem to be directly related to the temperature, as I noticed it in France in April – it was bright but closer to 70-75F !
Quite a few people do not experience it apparently.

Thank you @urszula , I did. I got a generic ghosting explanation similar to what was quoted here. I then joined the forum and have found an in-depth investigation.
I also dug somewhat on my own - the 4.3” e ink display specs mention 50 Celsius as max operating temperature and 70 as the max storage temperature. I also haven’t noticed this defect in my Hisense A9 or Boox Tab XC.
Ultimately, my concern has been passed on for internal verification and I am awaiting a verdict.

Some news ? I have waited by am now determined to have my unit replaced.
Wonder if all people having the issue have things in common, like :
- From western Europe ?
- Using a black unit ?
- Using the new screen protector ?

I am from Canada. I have the NA variant. Mine was grey. I cracked my screen so bought and installed a second new screen from Mudita and that screen and phone back is white.
The ghosting happens to both the orig and the replacement screen.
I currently run Lineage (GSI) with the 1.1.1 firmware but it was also occurring with the 1.3 firmware on stock OS.
For me, the screen has to be pointing directly or almost directly at the sun between about 10-3 PM for the issue appear. The issue is mitigated on low UV days and nonexistent on cloudy days.
I recently spent 2 weeks in the French Carribean and despite the periodic ghosting the phone was great to use on the beach and by the pool. I will be taking it on a 5 day hiking trip with my son on the Juan de Fuca Marine trail next week.
I have 2 phones and mostly use the Kompakt when outdoors and also for audiobooks and music listening.

I was asked to provide an additional video with a system app illustrating the issue. I did that and was asked to fill in an RMA form to determine eligibility for replacement. I just did that too.

Ok, so… I received my Kompakt back after sending for repair to Mudita. It was pretty quick. I was pleasantly surprised to see a new screen protector was applied (same new version apparently).
I could test it briefly today because it good cloudy quickly but, so far it seems to have fixed the problem (for the couple of minutes there was a bright sun around noon). I’ll 100% confirm in a couple of days. I don’t know what they did / what they replaced but I am pretty confident and happy.

Followup : the issue is definitely fixed, hurray !
I wish I knew what the culprit was, though.
Something else that struck me is… I have the feeling that the screen contrast is better. It was slightly washed out before. Which makes me wonder if this was the case from the beginning or not. I am a bit puzzled, but this is perfect now - maybe my memory is playing tricks on me.
So well, to those who experience this issue : this is fixable ! My question to you : has the issue arisen suddenly or from the beginning ?
