Hello,
I know side-loaded apps aren’t Mudita’s responsibility, but I know there are some experienced users here so hopefully someone can help me out.
I’m using DAVx5 to sync my gmail google calendar data to the Etar calendar app. For some reason if there is a birthday (an all day event), everytime DAVx5 syncs (hourly) I get a notification from Etar. Also when I add an calendar event through Etar it keeps giving me notification reminders: 2 hours before(as planned), but then also 1 hour… 5 minutes and also afterwards a couple of times.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? I was thinking maybe it has something to do with different ‘default reminder’ times on Etar and Google Calendar? Or maybe I haven’t set things up right/double?
I have same exact setup you do (inkOS, DAVx5 and Etar) and I was having the same problem. I changed the Calendars Sync Interval setting in DAVx5 to once a day (Every 1440 minutes + immediately on local changes) and that solved it for me.
Thanks for your reply; great to hear! I have changed it - let’s see
Does that mean that when my wife adds an event to her calendar which is synced to mine, I will only see it a day later? Because that will definitely add to the extra frustration of me going minimal haha
Yes I’m guessing that will be how it works. I am actually not sure my DAVx5 is alive in the background anymore. I did not get an event reminder yesterday like I was supposed to. I will have to tinker with this some more.
I should have been more specific: the reason that I changed the sync interval in DAVx5 to one day was because my default notifications for my calendar events are set for 1 day before event also. I think the ghost notification sound was happening every time DAVx5 hit the sync interval (originally it was set at every 2 hours, and I was getting a notification sound every 2 hours with no actual notification). I set my DAVx5 app to always use battery today, so I will see how that goes- if it will keep the DAVx5 app awake all of the time or not.
Thanks for sharing again! I have set it to ‘one day’ too and the multiple notifications are of the past now too. I’m interested in your findings about the battery option. Ideally I would want DAVx5 syncing more often so I have a more updated view on my partner’s calendar.
Hello! So, i am trying my best to make the Kompakt my daily driver. Almost there… calendar is a big sticking point. Following your collective lead here, I downloaded etar calendar, now trying to download Davx5 and it shows it costs 6 euros, which is fine. Problem is, when I go to click on the pay button, nothing happens. I can’t seem to download it. Any ideas? Thanks!
Heyyy! Good busy, it’s my only phone now for a couple of months and yes Etar+DavX5 is essential. I don’t recall paying for Davx5 though. How are you installing it? Aurora? And what do you use it for? I only used it to sync Etar to my (and subsequently my wife’s) Google Calendar. Let me know and hopefully I can help you out!
I just figured it out:) Re-read the thread and used Fdroid to download it. Aurora was charging for it for some reason. Now it is all sync’d up and I have solved my final major hurdle! Ready to say goodbye to the crack pipe that is Iphone once I travel back to the USA to get my second SIM. Thanks!
A quick question about DAVx5+Etar combo for calendar sync: does MK sync events automatically in the background? The information I found suggests that DAVx5 does not sync events in the background like it does on regular Android phones. If that’s true, are there any workarounds or settings to enable persistent syncing, or is manual sync the only reliable method? I understand Mudita designed MK for minimal distractions and privacy. Still, I’m curious if anyone has found a way to have DAVx5 sync automatically in the background without needing to open the app each time to populate the Etar calendar. Thanks!
Hey! I does sync in the background Just make sure you turn battery optimization off. You can set the interval. And some point I felt it even synced too much, so really no need to worry about this one. Etar + DAVx5 is a perfect combination. The only annoyance I have it still that is sometimes keeps repeating notifcations that are a day long whenever I open my Calendar. I think I got the notification that about the day my grandma passed away about 12 times… Kinda harsh MK
But I’m pretty sure diving into it I can fix it… since it it all side-loaded stuff working together, it is most def a user thing.
