After the 5.6 earthquake we got in Cali recently (not personally effected), I realized that my kompakt did not get the emergency alert, while my old phone did. Anyone have experience with this? I do remember turning on offline mode for a short duration sometime in the past week, so theres a small chance it coincided.
Cell Broadcast: Kompakt receives emergency notifications via local Cell Broadcast, meaning warnings are received for your immediate area regardless of the SIM or carrier network. [1, 2]

Emergency alerts are definitely supported. Make sure that you have them enabled. In Poland, they come in as Text Messages:

In Germany, last year, I got a pocket SMS/notification like this:

I also live in the area effected by that earthquake (also safe, and hi, nice to know there’s another Kompakt user around here!) and I did in fact get the emergency alert, so I think it’s possible there was a glitch of some kind with your Kompakt in particular.
I’ve checked the settings and the alert history shows nothing. Hopefully a one-time bug with it being new, I turned on state and local tests so hopefully I will be able to verify when the state conducts the next system test.
How long did it take for you to find out there was an earthquake? How were you affected? Did anything break or anyone get hurt? Are you wondering if that was just a pre-quake before the big one? So many factors, depth, duration, soil types, building codes, gas lines, water supplies, infrastructure, bridges falling, dams bursting, scary.
Phone alerts are annoying, I turn them off, the phone can contribute to anxiety.
I wasn’t near enough to feel the earthquake, just near enough for the state to warn me. I knew about the earthquake day of from the news, but I only found out that an alert had reached my area three days after when I checked my old phone for a 2FA thing.
