Email — Community App Review
Version: 0.1.1
Email reads and writes the mail of any account that takes a password: IMAP or POP3 in, SMTP out. Type your address and it looks up how to reach your provider; if it cannot find out, you fill the servers in by hand.
It is Thunderbird for Android with the mail left as they built it and the screen drawn again for this one. Everything is black and white and set in Lato. There are no avatars, no icons beside settings, and nothing animates. Dialogs and menus sit in a black rim instead of greying out the screen behind them.
A swipe turns one page and stops, in the inbox, in settings and in a long message, and the row or line the old page cut through opens the new one, so there is always something to read on from.
Signing in is by password. The “Sign in with Google” and Microsoft buttons are Mozilla’s and do not come with a fork, so Gmail, Yahoo, AOL and Fastmail need an app password, made in the account’s own security settings. Outlook.com no longer accepts passwords from mail apps and cannot be used here.
With Glance installed ( GitHub - wanderwildwood/hitome: Glance: today's events, the weather and what is unread, on the Mudita Kompakt's lock screen · GitHub ), how much mail is unread also shows on the Kompakt’s lock screen; only the number is shared, and Settings has the switch.
It talks to your mail servers and nothing else, except that setting up an account asks your domain, and Mozilla’s list of providers, how to reach it. It installs beside Thunderbird rather than over it.
