Custom Mudita Kompakt App- CalmDirectory

Thank you for the reply!

No worries about transit. I was able to download a GMaps WV wrapper and that has taken care of my transit issue.

Really can’t believe how quick you made these updates - it’s so appreciated!

Going forward, is it helpful for us to report bugs on this thread, or would you prefer a DM?

If you have a Github account, reporting using the issues tab would be most helpful. Otherwise, probably here in the thread is best so others can hopefully see what has already been reported. But, ultimately, I’ll see them all.

Thank you for such a quick update!

A possible issue in CalmMusic: When I want to replay/start a song over that I am currently listening to, when pressing the the rewind button, it instead plays the previous song rather than start the current song from the beginning.

I’m working on a pretty comprehensive update to CalmMusic that will fix a lot of reliability issues as well as multiple UX updates. This will also position me to start a final run for Apple Music support.

Used it properly cycling to and from meeting friends for dinner yesterday and it was a really great experience.

I suggested before that it’d be nice to be able to zoom in and out of the map while navigating but honestly it seemed fine.

Couple of small bits of feedback:

  1. There were a couple of instances where a black bar appeared at the top of the map. Was probably under a cm high so wasn’t too obstructive, and it disappeared after 30 seconds or so when the map changed. Wasn’t able to take a screenshot but if it’s helpful I can try it it happens again?
  2. Not a huge deal but it’d be nice to be able to toggle voice navigation on or off by default, or have the app remember your choice. Unless I’ve missed something, every new journey (at least for cycling) starts with voice navigation switched on.

This isn’t isn’t anything to do with the app and presumably down to Mapbox/OSM’s routing, but it’s interesting how the cycle routes suggested were so different than the routes Google usually suggests when I cycle to/from a similar area. It’s actually quite nice to mix it up a bit.

Thank you so much for your continued work on this - I think it’ll probably be my most used community app. I can’t remember if you said before, but is there a link where we can buy you a coffee/send a small tip?

Thanks for giving it a solid run!

There were a couple of instances where a black bar appeared at the top of the map.

  • The bar is actually intended but the text needed to be shown is currently black instead of white so you can’t see it. In your case it was probably showing you the next maneuver after the current one. If two maneuvers happen quickly, the second one will show up smaller below the current so you can plan ahead. You will see this for lane guidance as well (i.e. which lane you should be in for your turn). Lane guidance works correctly, I just need to fix all other sub-maneuvers.

it’d be nice to be able to toggle voice navigation on or off by default

  • I’ve debated this a few times so if the consensus is having it remember the choice, I’ll add that ability.

I do have a “buy me a coffee” account that people can donate to but should not feel obligated to do so. It can be found here: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/davidraywilson

Like this? Maybe the guiding arrow should appear on top of the turn arrows too.

Yup, that’s it. I’ve verified locally and fixed the missing text in the black bar. I’ll have a bug fix out soon. I’ll also look into the z-indexing of the route/route-arrow/user position puck but unsure if I’ll have that out for the next update.

Thank you for the quick reply and update as always. And the app works already super well.

Having an option to pin playlists would be nice, and the ability to download an entire playlist/album in the dropdown menu when a playlist/album is selected.

I am loving your apps David, listening to some jazz with Calmmusic right now. Thank you for all your work!

A suggestion from me: it would be nice if the music app opens in the last viewed tab, like albums or artists instead of the default ‘all songs’.

Same goes for when you go to a specific artist, the default view then is ‘all songs’ instead of albums. Which creates unneccesary extra taps.

Thank you so much with the work you are doing on CalmMaps. I like it more than the native maps app.

I would like to ask for a feature: Would it be possible for you to add a toggle option to disable/enable highways in the route calculation? Because I do not own a car, but I use my scooter to get around, and I can’t legally get on my country’s highway with it… so having an option to disable highways would be a much appreciated feature!

Thank you again for your work and dedication in making this app better and better!

I can definitely look into if this is an option with Mapbox. I do know they offer “alternate” routes but I don’t currently surface them so that might be an option as well.
