Comparison: Light Phone 3 vs Mudita Kompakt

@miauzgenau You are not alone. Different people are interested in the Kompakt for different reasons though. And if it helps making the Kompakt a success, I will gladly tolerate it, as long as it does no harm.

5G is overmarketed, in many countries you won’t get any benefits because of budget pushing people to deploy 5G BTS same as 4G, and is not future proof as you may get 6G or 7G soon, see what happens in the Wi-Fi industry - people have not fully adopted 802.11ac, began adopting 802.11ax, 802.11be is on the horizon and Wi-Fi 8 is already discussed!

Good point about setting down to 4G.

4g will not be turned off for at least a decade, 3g in Canada for example is only just starting to be phased out, I doubt anyone will be using the Kompakt for a decade plus

But hey, what about 2G? In Poland, they’re removing 3G but apparently, 2G is going to be left intact for an unknown period.

@buiosu we have a whole thread about it

I like the design of both, what I’d change in Mudita design is the front frame to be same color as the back per selection made upon purchase.

I just realized, if LP3 doesn’t allow sideloading, it might require another smartphone in the cupboard if you’re willing to use WhatsApp on your laptop, since occasionally PC WhatsApp can loose binding with the servers (especially when there is some intermittent connectivity), the app gets locked and you are prompted to bind it with the phone again. Of course, a matter of individual case.

Yeah I agree with this , not sure why they kept the front colour the same for every phone, I would have loved if my entire phone was pebble grey like my harmony, absolutely LOVE that colour

How do you know someone backed the Lightphone? Don’t worry, they’ll tell you :joy:

Here is a small showcase of how sideloading works on the LP3

So you can basically turn the LP3 into what’s possibly the sexiest tiny smartphone out there lol

Ngl. If you want a smartphone, the form factor is king.

The questions is how will the battery hold with all the sideloaded apps…

Highly dependent on how many and what kind you download. @urszula mentioned she has Whatsapp and Signal and her phone battery still lasted a week!

I am not worried about the Kompakt, I know it lasts
I was talking about the LP3

@thurakanda same battery life tbh. Reason is that you can optimize more things and also turn on battery saver mode
