I initially went to Mint Mobile. They could not get my service to work. I then went to US Mobile and they had to mail me two sets of Sim cards. The first network card was for Dark Star and I could text/call but my data would go in and out (only worked about 5-10% of the time. They assured me their Light Speed Network would work. After waiting more for them to mail me that Sim card. That network doesn’t work at all.
Tech support emailed me back saying I can change the APN settings manually. But I see no way to do that on the Kompakt. When I go to Network & Internet → Mobile Network the only option is Wifi Calling. There’s no option for anything else.
How can I change APN settings to get either Light Speed or Dark Star to work with US Mobile?
Still unable to upload anything. I also have screenshots of settings from the phone information page by hitting *#**#3464636#*#* into the phone. But I can’t upload that either.
So I had to go into the advanced settings by typing in star pound star pound 4636 pound star pound star and discovered that Mobile Radio Power was switched to off. Switching that to on immediately gave me service. I have no idea why that would be set to off, but I think that was the solution.
I have multiple physical SIM cards including Mint Mobile. Here’s what works -
use an iPhone or common android phone to activate your phone plan (it doesn’t have to be your phone, but someone needs to allow you to use it for this purpose)
remove the SIM card from the other phone and insert it in the Kompakt
btw - @urszula i am not a drug dealer
That’s it. Easy peasy.
Comment to self: I haven’t had to alter APN settings - sometimes its amazing how technically skilled people familiar with android systems can be, usually it’s not so complicated. when you start altering settings you can cause complications.
@clgrove33 I talked to our team & they said if something like this happens again, PLEASE reach out to our customer support team. Their email is [email protected]. They will be able to help much more efficiently.
If I was able to do that do you think I would’ve posted here saying that there were no options to do that manually? I asked how I could change the settings not “Did anyone else not have issues with this?”
Hi @clgrove33 I am glad your issue was resolved. it can be frustrating when setting up a phone service.
I sent a friend my old iphone, I did a factory reset before sending it to her, she never had a smartphone before. Its been a couple of months and she hasn’t gotten past the first step - it is stuck on HELLO in one hundred languages, she tells me, its asking her to choose a language. I should send her a Kompakt.
