Can I change side loaded app icon?

I haven’t been able to reproduce this (yet), but I was able to get the apps to change to grey scale vs. just black and white. The result with very nice with the icons appearing softer and more detail in the icon. This could be a setting with the eInk refresh or something that bugged out momentarily. If it happens again I’ll take a photo.

Calling back to the original topic (over a year later, I know) - this would be a great feature to add to the roadmap. Whilst I wish I could live with just the key Mudita apps, side-loading is inevitable for apps to purchase local bus tickets, a translator app, etc. And side-loaded app icons are looking quite horrible in the UI.

Certain Android launchers (I’m thinking Microsoft Launcher, for one) will allow you to change the icons of apps and I wonder if it would be possible to see an update this on future. I can imagine long-pressing on an icon to “change icon” or to do it on the “App Layout” screen - where tapping an icon can reveal a library of icons to pick from and then the rest of the styling is up to Mudita. So, for instance, I can change my bus ticket app which now currently just shows as a big black square, to be a bus icon. Or my translator app, which is also a big black square, to be some speech bubbles or something.

Page 1 of my app screen looks so neat and tidy, and page 2 just looks like phone is broken.

Meanwhile there is a solution for that. You can just install Katapult launcher and have the icons of your dreams, and yes, you can edit them too. AND it comes with a bunch of other features that the Kompakt is missing.

Ah, perfect! Thanks. It looks like a good option. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
