Can anyone assist me in removing from lock screen “2 unread SMS.”

Frustrated! Per my previous forum input in the technical section I have had text issues last week with missing SMS messages and late messages. Can anyone assist me in removing from lock screen “2 unread SMS.” This was two messages that never came through so I can’t read the messages and cannot delete. They were not group messages as others have written about. Also, I have tried the block a number and unblock trick others have written about.

This might be a stupid suggestion but try:
Settings → Manage Apps → SMS (tap on it) → Force stop

And see if it clears it

Do you have MMS feature turned on the SMS app? Just in case you have it off and then u have received MMS (but the off toggle could be hiding them).

The only other suggestion I have is to sideload Quik sms and see if it shows any messages that the SMS app is not showing.

I had the same problem and tried a lot of things. What worked was that I turned on Offline+ and then went into the SMS app. The unread message appeared. In my case, it was a group SMS. But try it and see if it works.

I have been having the same problem since the update. Sometimes it disappears, sometimes it doesn’t. I have also tried everything. I have also not been receiving SMS consistently. I have had multiple family members tell me that they texted me and I never received anything. At first I wasn’t sure if it was a problem with my phone or carrier (it should not be my carrier because I have had no issues with my SIM in a different phone prior to all of this). I have MMS turned on, I am using Quik so I can receive group texts (I am still not getting all the messages in group texts despite this), I tried restarting my phone, turning my eSIM off and on and reset network settings. I did start getting a couple of daily scheduled text messages that had stopped after doing all of this, but I am still not receiving a couple texts here and there from family members. This really needs to be fixed because it is rendering the phone unreliable for me. I am sorry I do not have answers for this problem, but I wanted to let you know that you are not alone.

Thanks intentbean8624 for writing your post. These SMS issues are frustrating and embarrassing as friends and family think I am ignoring them, yet I never knew they texted. I wish someone from tech support would respond to my original forum post in the technical section as they have not. I am willing to put up with quirks in the phone OS as it improves, yet Phone calls and text should never be an improvement it should be working correctly from day one. Sadly this issue may drive me back to my Windows phone which I use for text and calls only which come through every time.

I was able to remove the phantom SMS notification by sideloading and installing Fossify Messages app. It was a group text that did not come through. Mudita Please fix the Mudita SMS App OS to correctly process group text.

I had to use the same work-around: installing Fossify Messages app. I’m looking forward to a fix being released for the native SMS app.

just following this thread as I have 3 unread group texts (that won’t come through) and I don’t know how to make the notification go away.

Group messages are not fully supported at the moment. If your number is in a group thread, those messages may come individually, from the person that sent them. Our team is working on this & an update should be available this fall, as per the roadmap:
