Camera crashing on signal / molly messenger

I am using signal messenger or a fork of signal called Molly, but I had the same issue on signal that Im experiencing on Molly. That is if I try to take a picture directly from the app and attach it to a message the camera app hangs and the messaging app crashes and has to be restarted.

I can take the picture with the camera app and attach it to a message and it works without issue. I wondered if any of

you had experienced any similar problems

@sundancermartin did you give the app permission to use the camera?

I believe so, where would I I check that

ok I just checked in system –> developer options –> privacy molly does have access to the camera.

I forgot to mention, the screen is completly blank / black for about 3 seconds. then the camera screen appears for a couple of seconds and the the error message appears sayin it needs to be closed.
