CalmCast -- Podcast App -- Beta Now Available

First of all, thank you for the update. I’ve been testing it for a few hours now, and when I pause the podcast and start another app and do nothing for half an hour and then reopen CalmCast, the playback window is immediately there :smiley: :+1:
Perfect.
However, when I restart the device and then open CalmCast, the playback window doesn’t appear and you have to search for the podcast again. I don’t know if this is intentional or if there’s no other way to do it. But it was important to me that the playback window at least remains active when I do something else or nothing at all on the Kompakt in between.

I did not think about from a restart :grimacing:. Saving a last known state to the database instead of memory should solve this. I will investigate that today.

Update out. In my testing I was able to restart the phone and have the media controls persist. I also pushed a subsequent update to persist artwork and make the media notification (inkOS media player as well) clickable to re-open the app.

I’d be curious to hear if you have any more issues throughout the upcoming day(s).

Could this functionality also be added to CalmMusic (if it isn’t already)?

My latest CalmCast update actually brings it directly in line with CalmMusic. Both apps should be persisting playback state even after restart.

Also, I just wanted to point out how quickly Version 1.1.3 of CalmCast was available in MindApps after being published to GitHub. I opened MindApps and saw that Version 1.1.3 was available, so I opened up GitHub to look at it and saw that it had been published there for only two minutes. So it seems like MindApps updates its releases almost immediately!

Hi! I just downloaded the calmcast app and downloaded a few episodes to try it out. Thank you for making this!

I haven’t found this in the menus, but would it be possible to have an option for streaming/download only over wifi (so not to use phone data)?

You can tell it to only auto-download over wifi but I haven’t set up the option to limit streaming to wifi only. I’ll add that in the near future.

Thanks for the update, most of the functions are working great for me! The downloads though are still in a random order for me. And also with the added numbers for the episode length and time stamp, the lowest info line looks really cramped. My suggestion would be, just writing the pure date the episode was published, not the day and the time.

I need to push an update that formats your published date timestamps so they’re not so long and are correctly readable for sorting.

Somehow, sice today, everytime I am clicking on an episode it starts anew, even if I am already half through the podcast. I didnt make an update or change anything I would know of. Any idea why this is happening?

Were these streamed or downloaded episodes?

oh and I also wanted to add the question if you are planning to add the possibility for chapters if the podcast uses them in the future.

I thought maybe it was network but that doesn’t explain downloaded files. Is this continuing to happen or was it isolated?

I double checked, Its happening for downloaded and streamed and unfortunately its conitnuously happening, everytime I am clicking on an episode its starting anew. Should I try reinstalling the app? Will I loose all my podcast data if I reinstall?

Deleting/re-installing would cause you to lose your data. Have you tried restarting your device? Also, do you see the progress bar on the episode before you play it and is it where you’d expect it to be?

The timestamp is shown correctly, but when I click on it, it jumps to the start. Trying the restart now.

Nevermind, the restart solved it (could have tried that myself, sorry). I hope its just a rare bug. Thanks for the quick help!
