I think this is a sideeffect of a bug that was already noted, that the mudita kompakt calls people when in your pocket, though you do not want to. Now I also noticed other behaviors, like turning on the flash lights, this of course also drains the battery quite a bit and is hard to notice during summer time. Basically all kinds of functions from the settings screen can be affected, so this could be quite dangerous. I really hope this is fixed very very soon (in my opinion if there is a bugfix for this, I would roll it out as soon as possible even before the next feature release, as this is the one thing that makes me very uneasy with the phone, basically I do not need to check anymore, because of social media, but to a) check if I turned anything on or off inadvertently and b) to switch of offline+ for a few seconds to see if I missed a call (because I won’t put it without offline+ into my pocket). So please release us of this pain of looking like stupid people with the flash lights on, calling people without wanting etc.
Mine also made a call from my pocket, which is odd as the screen was locked. A few moments later it also made a lot of sounds (like I was dialing DTMF or something).
The pocket is a pretty normal place to put your phone, so fixing this is imperative.
I know it’s a “you’re holding it wrong” type of advice, but I successfully workaround all that by putting the phone into my pocket with screen facing outside. Hoping they’ll get this behavior fixed soon though.
thank you so much @buiosu : I appreciate any type of advice as this is a real pain in the a…
@tilmanbergt I’ve passed this on to our team. I have not personally experienced this & I am currently traveling- keeping Kompakt in my backpack with all my stuff. I haven’t dialed anyone & the lights have not turned on.
@urszula : I think this happens mostly when in the pocket of your trousers, as then (I assume) the legs are giving all kinds of touch commands, but I am not sure how this is happening as I lock the phone when putting it in. I also try to put it in my backpack now as much as I can to avoid this, but it is very very inconvenient right now.
THIS happened to me as well!
The flashlight was one thing, however the dialing of a phone number is quite concerning.
The phone was in trouser pocket.
The lock screen was visible before putting into pocket.
No interaction with the phone other than I suppose friction from being in the pocket.
Just curious, why/how does this prevent the issue from occurring?
I can only assume that. If I put MK in my pocket, I do it screen-outside. For over a month since I got the phone, never had accidental call or anything. When I test now, the screen seems to react to cloth swiping the screen only if my finger is right behind; with thicker cloth it doesn’t happen. So I guess it needs to sense the flesh which is possible with your leg behind the trousers but not on the other side where there’s no body.
I only decided to disable fingerprint unlock for a while because with the phone form-factor it is indeed tricky to not brush the sensor while putting the phone in a pocket.
@buiosu - got it. Thank you. I wonder if that is the common denominator/combo - fingerprint reader enabled?
Though I’d swear the phone had been dormant in my pocket for a period of time, with no other items in said pocket. My screen timeout is set to 30 seconds.
I believe/hope so, without fingerprint enabled, no matter how hard I try, I can’t get out of the lock-lock screen unless I press the side button. If the pocket is empty and/or the phone is in it’s case, shouldn’t happen…?
Thank you.
Ok, will disable the reader for now as this was a little scary…flashlight, dialed someone from my recents list…eeesh
My kompakt seemingly managed to Factory reset due to a variety of random in pocket triggers: Kompakt completely factory reset itself - lost everything
I disabled the fingerprint reader for now and it’s working much better
