I also think the amount of stimulation we are exposing ourselves to can’t be overlooked here, as well. We are taking in more information per day than we were meant to over the course of years, if not a whole lifetime a mere couple hundred years ago. And our brains have not changed one bit. Every tweet, every doom-scroll, every algorithmic feed, every newsfeed, every text, every update, every notification. We are simply not meant to be exposed to the constant overload of information that we put into our nervous systems from the moment we wake up until the moment we go to bed at night. We’re frying ourselves and never giving our bodies and nervous systems a chance to truly rest and heal.
