Spring is officially here & in a way, it always tends to bring about change. It almost invites it. Not in the same way the New Year does. Nothing dramatic, that’s a life-overhaul kind of way, but in quieter, more natural ways. A bit more light in the morning. A longer walk in the evening. A subtle feeling that it might be time to reset something.
I often think of spring as a time to clean and refresh our surroundings. But what about our mental space?
As part of our new campaign, Beyond the Screen – Mental & Stress Wellness, we’re opening up a conversation about something many of us feel, but don’t always pause to reflect on:
What does a “mental reset” actually look like in everyday life?
As you know, at Mudita, we’ve always believed that technology should support your well-being, not compete for your attention. Whether it’s putting your phone aside for a walk, fully disconnecting every weekend (yeah, I’m thinking about you @kirkmahoneyphd), or waking up without a screen, sometimes the smallest shifts can make the biggest difference.
So, I’d love to hear from you:
What does a mental “spring reset” look like for you?
Have you made any small changes recently that helped reduce stress?
How do you create space for yourself in a world that constantly asks for your attention?
And if you’re using Mudita products, have they played a role in helping you slow down or reset?
If you’re looking for a starting point, we’ve just published a new article on our blog:
going through a big box of USB cables and identifying only a few to keep;
putting my deGoogled smartphone in black-&-white mode and running the inkOS launcher, CalmCast, and CalmMaps on it – in anticipation of replacing it by buying the Kompakt again, after Mudita fully supports voicemail;
following in 2026 your posted advice, @urszula, to discard one item every day, but also applying your January approach (1 item on Jan. 1, 2 items on Jan. 2, etc.) to February, March, and April, so far!
I disabled notifications about new text messages.
I create that space by:
using only one social-media account – Mudita Forum;
having this in my email signature: “I ignore email from Friday evening to Sunday A.M. and otherwise read it only 2-3x/day. Please CALL me for anything urgent/personal/complicated!”;
disabling notifications about new text messages;
checking for email and text messages only 2-3x per day.
@kirkmahoneyphd This was so nice to read! I’m so happy that this habit of throwing one thing away has stuck.
For me- a small change that helps me reduce stress stress is stepping away for the screen & just talking a short walk with my dog. Especially in springtime, when every day nature is changing & the buds are developing, with the leaves growing. The same branch looks different every single day.
So, when the deadlines are looming…the Slack pings keep coming like an avalanche, I just take a short break & go out for a 15-20min walk.
