Hi,
I am trying to get my Mudita phone set up in San Francisco. I"ve gone into TMobile twice and they tell me it is not supported by them. If I order a prepaid Sim card online will this work .?? I need it only for 1:1 talk and text infrequently and would hope to pay a low monthly fee.
Thank you for any advice,
Ann
It should work with T-Mobile. You won’t get support, you have to do everything yourself online to make the Pure work.
@annratsep Since Mudita Pure is not a mainstream device, I wouldn’t expect post store reps to be familiar with it. Even here in Poland, when I went to a cell phone store to buy a prepaid SIM card, I got a ton of questions & the sales rep called over all the other reps in the store because they didn’t know what to make of the POLISH BRAND of PHONE
The best thing to do is to buy a pre-paid SIM CARD & just put it in the phone.
To get a SIM card from T-mobile, they wanted the model of phone to make sure it’s compatible. I knew they were going to say no from checking online, so I just kept repeating, “Please send me the SIM card. I would like to buy a SIM card. Please let me worry about the model of phone I will use. I just need you to send me a SIM card.” Stuff like that.
My Mudita Pure works with my T-mobile SIM card…sometimes…
I couldn’t call out this morning. Got a No SIM error. Calls randomly drop. The mudita pure works a little less reliably than my Hisense A5 did here in Alaska, USA. But sometimes it works, sort-of.
This has definitely made my life more simple and quiet.
@dandelionc Thank you for sharing your experience with us. The network issues surrounding Mudita Pure are well known to us. There’s been a lot of discussion on this forum surrounding this. Unfortunately, due to the low sar antenna, there is not really anything we can do about it.
I know some users had similar experiences with T-Mobile reps. Perhaps it would be better to simply tell them you have a mainstream phone and give them some random smartphone model?
Maybe, but the “broken record” technique is probably just as effective and less work, since often the followup question to model is imei number.
We only had to go in a circle a few times. They have to worry about their average call time to stay employed, so they’re going to give up and just send a card for money pretty quickly.
