100 percent agree with this, honestly if I get my phone next month and I am once again going through what I did with the Pure , I am DONE with Mudita
From a quick look at the forum, users have shown the MMS is working…
OKay that gives me some hope lol
@minimalist4life This has to be a APN issue or something on his side, cuz I just asked people to send me MMS and there is no issue. Pictures work, emojis work.
PERFECT, I was getting worried lol
What about the notifications thing? Are we not able to mute text messages while still being able to hear ringtones? He was saying you can only mute them all together or have texts and calls go off all together
@minimalist4life For now, you can set different tones/audio for notifications & calls. I chose a super quiet sound for my text messages, so it’s not disturbing. However, in the future there will be custom sounds available for both calls & notifications because a lot of people have asked about this feature.
Can you show us a group text? I am still unable to send group MMS
Has anyone in this forum received a group MMS on a Kompakt?
Isn’t that RCS?
Group MMS is not RCS. I receive and send group MMS messages frequently on my Sunbeam Wireless F1 Orchid, which does not support RCS.
I have posted separately about RCS:
Ah! I tried out everything but MMS still do not work. I have the latest OS version installed. Maybe I have to adjust some settings but I don’t even care about that a bit since I never used MMS in my life. Something very positive: It is possible to record videos even tho it was not even a feature on this phone! It’s a bit tricky but if you record a video via Whatsapp it workes totally fine. It records video and audio!
not sure how these phones work, but as its android based, mms usually (sometimes) requires manual configuration for your carrier settings if they dont get automatically applied. might check that?
A guide such as this one might help you:
My carrier configures those settings for me automatically when I move my carrier-provided SIM card from one Google Android or Google-free AOSP-based cellphone to another one.
But, I can confirm that one can update one’s settings manually, too.
It’s just a wild guess but you posted your (mostly empty) APN settings earlier on another thread and iirc you are with Drillisch. Their APN settings can vary, depending on their sub-“brand” so you want to double check your settings or at least request auto config via SMS again if you haven’t already.
I had similar issues with them in the past and I guess your settings might not be legit.
Example O2: Drillisch APN Internet Einstellungen und Zugangsdaten - APN Einstellungen und Zugangsdaten Datenbank
Our team has said that depending on your network carrier, the automatic detection of APN ( internet ) and APN ( MMS) may not always work automatically. It’s not Mudita Kompakt, it’s more on the carrier’s side & how it detects those settings & imports them into the device. We’re looking into getting a support tutorial regarding this.
Hey guys! Thank you so much! It is working now! I had to add some APN Settings for MMS! It all works fine now! I had no idea/still have no idea what the hell this is all about but it works! I’m a tech noob!
Tldr: MMS WORKS PERFECTLY FINE NOW!
@Jose_Briones I can’t test this, because in Poland it does not work the same way as it does in the US. It’s really weird, but, in Poland & I guess in the rest of Europe:
Group SMS (sending one message to several people at once) behaves more like a mass individual SMS send rather than a group chat.
In most European countries, standard SMS doesn’t automatically turn into a group conversation. Every recipient gets the message individually, and if they reply, it goes only to the original sender (not the whole group).
In Europe, true “group chat” behavior (everyone sees everyone’s responses) usually only happens in messaging apps (WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram) rather than via SMS/MMS.
Why this difference?
- MMS adoption was more aggressive in the US, with unlimited plans pushing it.
- In Europe, people moved more quickly to apps like WhatsApp for rich messaging because SMS/MMS was often billed per message or expensive for multimedia.
- Infrastructure differences and carrier choices shaped user behavior early on.
And this is not a Mudita Kompakt issue, I’ve tried it on a SAMSUNG S20, a SONY Xperia, my BlackBerry & an LG smartphone. It’s all the same.
Yeah that is a bit surprising to be honest, I dont want to hear text notifications on when I am at work, I keep my phone away from my desk , hopefully it gets patched soon, until then I guess I will have to put the phone in a drawer loud enough to hear a call but not allowed enough to hear a text
