Amazing device, BUT

Hello dear Mudita team!

I just got my Kompakt yesterday and I really love it! It does what it’s suppose to and the design is even better than I imagined it to be!

But please consider the following SMALL changes in future updates:

-Custom ringtones (for calls and SMS seperately)
-The ability to mute ringtones and SMS seperately (or at least provide us with a silent sound as a ringtone). I did not have a sound when recieving SMS for the past 10 years but my phone rang when I got calls.

That’s basically it!

Thank you so much for your efforts! I really love the device!

And of course the ability to change the lockscreen to a blank screen or something would also be nice!

Have you tried adding custom ringtones through Mudita Center?

Yes! You can only backup your device, manage contacts and transfer pictures and E-Books onto the compact via Mudita Center.

I wonder, can you access the file directory when it’s plugged in and access the ringtones folder directly? Might be able to just move custom sounds to there without the app.

Might be worth trying, that’s how I’ve been doing this on an Android smartphone.

I tried! But I can’t find the ringtones folder, when I just plug it in! Any other ideas how I may manage to make them visible? I’m not that experienced with Android tech.

Weird. It still seems like pretty basic features.

Are you on pc or mac? On mac in finder if you press shift-command-period and it shows hidden folders. Not sure how it’s done on PC

I tried on Windows and Linux!

Yes, definitely!
It also bothers me that every time I see a huge logo with text and a lock icon. I would prefer a more minimalist screen with just a small logo or, even better just a clock and date.

I was told by the team that you can’t add custom ringtones (yet, at least)

Yeah that above apart needs to be fixed ASAP, I don’t want my phone going off every time I get a text, we should have the option to just get phone calls without hearing a ringtone for every text that comes it

I am concerned after watching this livestream. Jose mentions that their are issues with MMS in the messaging, at this point I was hoping mudita had all these kinks figured out, I really hope this is all sorted out when I get my phone, I have been very patient with this company when I had the pure, I am really hoping we are getting a polished product when it comes to messaging guys, like at this point in the game this is your second phone we need to be doing much better. In my opinion there should be no issues when it comes to messaging and call which are the very BASICS of a phone

He also mentioned the maps application not being polished, Like I don’t understand why stuff like that and finally get your music app RIGHT is such an issue

I just tried sending a MMS and you’re right. It does not get out! But I never used that feature in my life before. I will try to figure out if I manage to make it work or not.Other than that as somebody who never owned a smartphone this device is pretty good I have to say. Maps does not seem to have a turn by turn navigation yet or at least I cannot find it. Sideloaded Whatsapp works without any issues so far.

@urszula, would you be so kind as to confirm this? It is a no-go for me.

I remember last year the only caveat seemed to be playing videos received via MMS. I’d expect sending to be working. Could be a bug or service provider config issue (APN for MMS?).

It would be an absolute no-go if the device were to be delivered with bugs again after the Pure. Especially as this time, with Android, you have a basis that is fully functional and requires little custom development. This also applies to apps such as Maps and the music player. It would be absolutely incomprehensible if another ‘unfinished’ device were to be released. Even if I don’t use Maps, it should at least be able to handle simple turn-by-turn directions.

The same goes for the music player. It must be possible to display a simple folder structure instead of having to scroll through a list of hundreds of songs.

Even though I mainly use the device for basic functions such as making calls and texting, I would also like to finally replace my old MP3 player and be able to conveniently play music or podcasts on the move.

I’m really excited.

I haven’t experienced any of the issues that he was talking about. Maybe he has the old version of the OS. The phones that were shipped last week all has the most up-to-date MuditaOS K.

It all works well. as it should, for me
