A few weeks ago, I shared here that I’ve been experiencing a recurring and very frustrating issue with the Kompakt. Whenever I receive a call, the screen with the “answer / reject” options opens immediately — even while the phone is still in my pocket. As I reach for it, the fabric of my trousers often touches the screen, causing calls to be answered or declined completely by mistake.
For me, this is a hugely critical problem. The main function of a phone is to reliably let me decide when to answer or reject calls. At the moment, I feel I’m not in control of that basic functionality.
With the latest update, I was really happy to see some great improvements in other areas, but I honestly don’t understand why this hasn’t been addressed yet. Am I the only one struggling with this? I’m surprised it’s not being discussed more in this community, given how essential call handling is.
I say this with respect for the work being done on the Kompakt, but I also want to put the finger on the wound: this issue makes the phone unreliable for its most basic purpose. Please, could the team prioritize fixing this? I truly want to continue using this phone, but only if I can rely on it to answer or reject calls when I choose, not when my pocket decides for me.
Thanks for reading, and I hope to hear whether others are having the same experience.
You can install Flossy Phone, which has you slide the answer or end buttons, rather than tap them. It’s much more of a physical action so it won’t have pocket issues.
Of course installing this may cause other problems, I gave up when I found I was playing a game of wack a mole.
I have MK since May and never had an accidental tap of the screen until last week.
I agree that slide motion is crucial for get-outta-pocket scenarios.
Hi @pedro. Thanks for bringing this up again. Our team is aware of this & they are currently discussing & testing potential solutions, however, I don’t have any specific info as of now.
@pedro While I agree this should’ve been a priority earlier on, this has been addressed many times on this forum since June:
My solution, similar to @nownotlater1 has suggested, is to download a different dialer app. I had used Fossify at a point in time, but have since given in to using Google’s phone app, becuase it just is that much better.
Once Mudita fixes this flaw, I will go back to using the built in dialer.
I installed Fossify Phone and made it my default phone app but then when calls came in, the screen with the answer/reject option never appears. My phone just rings and I have no way to answer it. I can make outgoing calls on the app just fine but incoming just would not work.
@bone_naga Intersting. I never had that issue with Fossify. My only issue with it was the text was difficult to read. Did you ever experiment with other notification settings?
Well, defintely try Google’s phone app (you can install it using Aurora). The plus with Google’s app is the phone icon in the status bar remains clickable (otherwise, I have not seen that icon work with other dialer apps). While I don’t typically use other Google products, the phone app seems pretty safe from their typical snooping.
