If you have been following the light company a lot of their pre-orders are being delayed now because they are moving production out of China, I am just wondering if Mudita is going to be affected by any of this? Are the phones still on schedule? Specifically the North American units? Are they already out of China and in Poland?
Just wondering because a lot of people that ordered the LP3 on the forums had their phones were initially delayed from January to April, and now another delay of 8 weeks
This is communication that LP3 buyers got, happy I am with the Kompakt, but feel sorry for people that have to wait another 8 weeks after the phone was delayed from a Jan release
|| || | Light Phone III April Production Update --As you are likely aware, there is an ongoing trade war having a huge impact on mass production globally. We wanted to firstly assure you that we have been aware of this risk since at least November and have a plan of action in place. Though it is a frustrating situation all around, we have overcome so many hurdles over the last ten years - especially through the pandemic - and we will get through this as well. To be clear, the cost of your pre-order is NOT changing; we owe you a phone and we will fulfill it at the price we promised. Thank you for pre-ordering the Light Phone III, we cannot wait to share it with you. With Foxconn, our manufacturing partner, we have had a plan for relocating our production this summer, however, that relocation is now imminent. We had hoped to fulfill all outstanding pre-orders before moving, but that is no longer possible with the current tariff situation. We have begun packing our production for relocation, which will delay our future productions by about 8 weeks. We have also been duplicating the assembly line the past few weeks, and that will be ready so things can speed up once production resumes. We will keep everyone updated with our progress throughout this relocation process. *Below are some answers to questions you might have:*Costs of Tariffs:There are NO ADDITIONAL COSTS for your pre-order - we are absorbing the tariff costs, which why we’ve decided to move our production. As frustrating as the delay is, we are proud to keep our promise and get your phone at the price of your purchase.International Orders:We’ve seen some confusion around international orders thinking they would receive additional tariffs for phones leaving the US, but to be clear, tariffs are only relevant to the country of origin, not where the phone is shipped from. The Light Phone is NOT made in the US, nor subject to any potential retaliatory tariffs. Additionally, we have been vetting a variety of fulfillment center options outside of the US to make international delivery even easier, and hopefully more affordable. This is something we’ve been exploring prior to this production relocation. Timing of Getting Phones: What if I already received my address confirmation and delivery window estimate? There is a second email coming for these orders specifically. Fortunately we were able to get a bunch of phones out before the tariffs took place and those batches are still on their way. Other users will get an email with a new updated delivery window. Please wait for this email regarding the timing of your order. What if I did not get an address confirmation email yet? We will pause sending these address confirmation emails out until we have a precise production plan in place. We will be sharing an update in the coming weeks confirming successful relocation, resuming address confirmation emails and sharing an updated delivery window. You can always email support@thelightphone.com with questions, but we will not have any new information on specific orders before we send our next update. We expect to have production/shipping resume full capacity by early June, about 8 weeks from now. There is a chance we might be able to speed this up some, but we cannot yet say for sure. We will fulfill all orders as quickly as we can from June through July and into August. We cannot apologize enough for this inconvenience.
|| || |This is an unprecedented trade war at an incredibly inconvenient time relative to our recent launch. We’ve been humbled by the positive reviews and press reaction so far. It’s amazing to hear from so many users that have received and are already using their new phones. It’s a shame to have to pause production like this. We appreciate your patience, understanding and continued support so much. We want nothing more than to keep rolling out new Light Phone IIIs. Note - we expect an influx of support emails this week, we will get to them as quickly as we can, thank you!|
I really feel for people that ordered this day 1 like myself that now have to wait at a minimum 8 weeks to get their phone, second delay already with the LP3 and imagine if it is delayed again, if you go on the reddit there are a lot of people that are so sick of using their iphones that they can’t wait that long for the LP3. It is amazing to see how many people are so fed up of their smartphones, hopefully more people wake up to how much smartphones are destroying us from the inside out
@minimalist4life As of now, we’re all good. No delays. We’ve got the Global Version almost ready to go out (in terms of software). The phone itself has been in our warehouse in Poland since we made the update on Kickstarter on Feb 5th.
USA-based Rob Braxman, who now plans to start to ship his BraX3 cellphone in May (2025), posted two hours ago on Rumble this excellent discussion about cellphone production and how tariffs can affect cellphone prices:
