Widgets and OS Look

OS Look of Kompatkt seems really clean, reminds of Hisense A5 or Gmail interfrace. Thats great and should just be improved. Mudita OS K - lucky guess its Android or Android FLOSS ARM based.
I know there are many mods and GUIs (Launchers, Themes …) from all manufacturers.
From Xiaomi MIU UI - Dont copy iOS look, but larger icons, fonts, some quick and acessibility feats and extreme power saver, oprimized normal power saver and scheduled on/off would be most welcome

  • Some retro theme and widget style could be copied from NothingOS 3.x , minus no back lights aka glymphs
  • v=KQWtGtosAlc&ab_channel=TechiBoy
  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHWj6XNE5ZM&ab_channel=Nothing
    • Meditation / Mudita theme?
  • Your suggestion from other modded Androids?
If we copy good enough with good design decisions, we can beat em all in “one to unite just good features” directed OS  Surely not in market share, but this could help. Surely I expect it in cycles over two or more years of updates.

Good part is when Kompakt launches it will still be a quite small feature set in it. So it mean we as users have rather strong presence if we want to push for changes and additions for the UX / UI / Design system of the OS. Already seen some interesting feedback.

What would help is to know what tools are used to create the concepts and the Design layouts.

Like in a software as Figma it would be easy to share a GUI system allowing users to quick and easy make mockups that describes their ideas in a much better what that mudita UX people and devs actually can respond to

I myself is waiting to understand if there is a way to build and run and test the OS in some simulator and have access to the design system.

Then we can go crazy with tweak feedback new ideas etc. that mudita of course have product ownership over. Still some of those silly ideas from us users may take their liking and eventually go into the product

@StefanHQ I think this is a post for @Tomasz
He would be able to help shed some light on this topic

Hey, Kompakt Lead Designer here! :slightly_smiling_face:

First off — thank you so much for the thoughtful comments. It really means a lot to see people genuinely care and engage with what we’re building with Kompakt.

When designing the UX for Kompakt, our goal was to strike the right balance between simplicity, usability, and performance — all while embracing the unique qualities (and limitations) of E-Ink. We wanted something that feels minimal and distraction-free, yet intuitive and responsive, helping the device stay snappy and efficient on battery.

We looked closely at other minimalist Android launchers, listened to what users like you have been asking for, and tried to distill it all into a cohesive experience that reflects our design philosophy — practical, focused, and calm by design. Of course, some choices were also shaped by technical constraints, but we believe that creativity often thrives within those boundaries.

That said — this is just the beginning. Kompakt is a fresh challenge for us, and we’re super excited about what’s ahead. Your feedback will continue to shape how the OS looks, feels, and works — we want it to evolve with you, not just for you.

So please, keep the ideas coming. We’re listening — and looking forward to the conversations ahead
