Why does the Kompakt Battery lose charge so fast as a hotspot?

Something Ive noticed with the Kompakt compared to my old big brand smartphones.

The Kompakt has a better battery life as a call and text phone , but using the hotspot eats up the battery at such a fast rate compared to any other smartphone I have used.

What is that about?

I have the same problem - when I use my Kompakt to power the internet on another device, battery flies out the window…

Kompakt has a better battery life for most features because of the display technology, it uses very little power so when you’re using it for normal things the battery will be good.

But E-ink display doesn’t help hotspot, hotspot is very power hungry and the device only has 3300 mAh battery.

Other smartphones now have 4000-5000 mAh batteries, and they have much newer more efficient processors that don’t use as much power. (The SOC in the Mudita Kompakt is pretty old from 2018-2019 so it’s not as efficient).

Keep in mind a hotspot equals WLAN communication + mobile data communication - like double of what you do on the laptop.

Yes, indeed- hotspots are generally very power-hungry, especially when run from a digital device, like a phone. Keep in mind- When you use a hotspot, your Mudita Kompakt is running both the cellular radio (to get the internet) and Wi-Fi radio (to share it), often simultaneously and continuously. PLUS if you’re streaming video, downloading files, or running multiple connected devices that means constant data flow, which demands more energy from the CPU and modem. Not to mention that high usage generates heat, which makes the battery work even harder and can shorten its effective life over time.

The exact reason why I have a backup a 4G Portable router, I don’t want to waste my phone’s battery life and use the phone hotspot only for quick tasks. For work I turn on my 4g router when I have no access to WIFI

Coming from Punkt. MP02. I can say that the battery life on the Kompakt when using the hotspot feature is pretty decent.

Tell me more  Punkt has a HOT SPOT function?

Yes. The concept of the phone is to deliberately share 4g LTE via Wifi with a tablet or laptop. That being said, it burns battery and … literally … the device itself  :fire:

Coming from the LP2 and I can say the same! I use mine on the train in the mornings and evenings and I still have battery life for days. I utilize the wifi network at school, so I don’t need to hotspot as much.
