What is the package com.zyt.mmi

I see it in the package list and am unable to find any relevent info on the internet about the app other than MMI is likely referreing to a multimedia interface. Is this a custom package developed by Mudita? If so what is it for?

It is factory test app that checks different sensors and hardware parts of the device if work properly. And the QC worker is supposed to test the hardware if it’s working correctly.

This normally gets removed before shipping the device to clients, but somebody has decided to keep it

Thanks for the reply. Just going through the package list to remove or disable any unecessary apps. If it is just a QC app then it should be safe to disable. I have disabled a handful of apps and haven’t had any issues so far.

I haven’t deleted it, because I have no idea if it will ruin anything. I know it even includes a clear data/factory reset option.

Btw I just tested and the security update shows June 2025, so I’m not sure if they added recent security updates or they just put a text in there

I’ve asked our team about this and The com.zyt.mmi package you identified is a low-level system component.
Packages like this are often part of the Board Support Package (BSP) provided by the chipset manufacturer and are essential for basic hardware functions and factory testing (Man-Machine Interface).
For this reason, we must strongly advise against removing any pre-installed system packages. MuditaOS is a carefully crafted and tested operating system, and its stability and integrity depend on all its default components working together. Removing any of these, even ones that seem obscure, can lead to system instability, unpredictable behavior, or prevent the phone from functioning correctly.
Our Approach to Security in MuditaOS
We treat the security of our devices with the utmost seriousness. Our vision for the upcoming MuditaOS K is to build an independent, secure operating system that you can trust. A key part of this strategy is our unique approach to updates:
MuditaOS K will be based on a conscious and careful selection of security patches from Android versions 12, 13, 14, 15, and future releases.
Unlike other manufacturers who might accept entire updates wholesale, we meticulously review and pull only the specific security patches that are relevant to our unique architecture and mindful design goals. This ensures that we enhance security without introducing unnecessary code or features that could compromise your privacy or the device’s stability.
