What are your 2026 digital minimalism goals?

I saw a discussion around this topic on REDDIT & I thought that it would be a great question for our AWESOME Mudita Community!
Since Mudita Kompakt launched earlier this year, one thing has become very clear to me: digital minimalism means different things to different people.

For some, it’s about cutting down on social media.
For others, it’s escaping mindless scrolling or YouTube rabbit holes.
And for many, privacy and intentional tech use are the main motivation.

There’s no single “right” reason, and I think that’s exactly why so many of us chose Mudita Kompakt. It’s minimalist, but flexible enough to support different goals and lifestyles.

So, I’m wondering, what does digital minimalism look like for you in 2026?
Are making any changes to what you are doing now? Do you have any particular goals in mind?
I’d really love to hear from you.
Let’s talk

I would love to leave reddit entirely. I think it is not the most effective search tool of 2026. I broke down my thought process behind this with the help of ChatGPT and it helped me realize how reddit is often “half-formed” ideas in comparison to “fully formed” ideas which are often found in a published book. The content on reddit often appears to be helpful, but it’s generally like scattered pieces of a puzzle that I put together with my own filtering process. It’s still better than google but I would love to at least find a more effective way to filter the content from this page. The Kompakt helped me very much with this process too as I will later end up consuming the highlights using the app Instapaper.

My only issue at this moment is the camera. I am still torn between the Kompakt or the LP3 due since the LP3 had such a good camera. I think I will stick with the Kompakt for now though and use my old iPhone 12 Pro when it’s really necessary for a photo. It was kind of a shock when I looked back and realized that during the time I was using the LP3, I had 40 photos I took over the course of a month, and I have taken less than 10 after switching to the Kompakt, which I have been using for a whole 6 months now! I don’t think it’s the software experience that pushes me away from photos with the Kompakt, I think it’s just the limiting hardware. I guess I would also like to solve that issue in 2026!

My goal is to text less & talk on the phone more.
Texting back & forth just takes up so much time. Calling & having a quick chat is much more efficient. It also helps resolve misunderstandings sooner.

My goal is to ditch smartphone entirely. Right now it’s Teams while on the road, Maps at times (no sweat to get rid), Whatsapp because I have few important circles there and PC app requires getting in touch every two weeks at least. Oh, and Revolut is only sensible on the phone, and my regular bank sometimes allows to authorize wire transfer with an SMS, but occasionally it only allows using app lol.

This is frustrating because I wouldn’t mind having WhatsApp on the computer to keep in touch with some important community groups. But the requirements to have it on a primary phone is a burden.

one thing i’ve been doing is completely minimising my subscriptions, financial services, and other applications.

Same here! I have disabled the text-message-received notification sound on my cellphone, and it now has this SMS auto-reply, limited to one reply per number per 30 minutes, limited only to saved contacts, and limited only to the first incoming message (in a thread) from a given contact:

[Auto-reply] Thanks!
If your message is
urgent, then please
call me!

Once I see a text message that deserves anything beyond the auto-reply, my goal is to call the sender of that message.

Also, I frequently delete all text-message threads from my cellphone. This ensures that days-later text messages from the thread-involved contacts also trigger the auto-reply to those contacts, thereby reinforcing that I prefer that they call me for anything urgent.

OMG…I’m going to do this too. (I’m stilling this auto-reply)
Thanks for this tip.

Do you find that people get offended by this automatic message?

It’s hard for me to come up with a goal related to digital minimalism. I am quite content with my digital use at the moment. I seldom spend time with social media scrolling and I mostly spend my time reading books or doing my school work.

No, they appreciate me telling them.
