US Users What Carrier will you be using?

I gave no thought to what carrier to use. Any suggestions? Currently on Verizon and not keen on staying with them.

I’m planning to use US Mobile. You can switch between any of the 3 big networks (Verizon, AT&T, and T-mobile). I’ll try each of them out with the Kompakt in my area to see what is the best signal. Also, they have super reasonable pricing if you’re not using much data.

You’re welcome to message me directly if you’d like a referral link (it’s a $25 discount for you, but they also have other offers, so those may be better depending on what you’re doing).

I’m curious to see what others are having success or issues with. I just got my kompakt and will be installing a sim from Puretalk sometime today. Hopefully it works, because the LP2 does not work with pure talk.

I am using AT&T and received the message “The device you tried to activate does not work on our network”. I have received texts and had a conversation on the phone, though. Concerned I am missing some messages and would have no way of knowing it.

I’m using Ting Mobile on their cheapest plan. No problems so far.

I use AT&T and plan to keep it. Currently using the LP3 and got the same message about the device not being supported but it works well (though it doesn’t seem to connect to 5g)

Took some advice from here after being utterly rebuffed by Verizon, and looked into US Mobile. The price is right, and I get to take business away from vzw, so a win-win lol.

Confirming US Mobile Dark Star, everything works, I have full bars. You have to set a custom access point though, https://www.usmobile.com/help/articles/1118464

Use MNC 280, if you enter 410 it won’t save and you have to start over.

Also US Mobile said all 3 networks should be fully compatible.

I’d like to use puretalk as well, so please let me know if they work for the kompakt! Thanks

Are any att user able to share their APN settings? On my pixel I see it listed as “Spectrum”, but it shows “Verizon” on the Mudita. Even after resetting the APNs, they seems totally different on each device.

Hi there !
Happy to join the MK users community. I received my phone yesterday (US version). Unfortunately my carrier Mint Mobile has sent me the following message when activating eSIM :
Thank you so much. I see here that your phone is compatible with our network but unfortunately on locked state at this time. I recommend reaching out to where you bought the device and have it unlocked first with them as you will not be able to install the Mint eSIM on a locked phone.
Has anyone experienced the same issue ? I would be happy to get help in resolving it. Thank you.

Hi! I am using T Mobile already activated sim card from another phone. The 4g sim works fine so far with this device. I get about the same reception in my rural area and I have noticed 1 dead area that I travel which is also seen on another 4g and a 5g phone I have. Amazingly this is the first e ink phone to have this good reception that I am aware of in the states so long as 4g exists. Also wifi calling for T Mobile works fine and in 1 test I noticed it switched to cell tower with no issues. my only concern is call volume as of this writing is low compared to the other phones I have which is the biggest concern I have.

I could be wrong, but I think you need to go into Settings > Network, and set the phone to ‘eSim’ mode. It will reboot, and then you will be able to install. Again, this is an educated guess and not a guarantee; I hope it helps

Thank you ! I tried this and the phone asks to scan a carrier-provided QR code. However the carrier says that the phone appears as locked. I emailed the support team, hoping they will act swiftly. Thanks again.

For what it’s worth to you (perhaps not much, given the differences):

  • Mint Mobile
  • “Global-optimized” Kompakt, received May 5th in USA
  • Physical SIM, moved from multi-year use in Sunbeam Wireless F1 Orchid
  • No problems (including several transfers of SIM between Kompakt and Orchid while testing various features of Kompakt vs. Orchid)

Thank you :+1:

I don’t know how to reply to hamma specifically but I had the same issue with mint and my lp2. Called them because the service was terrible and dropped constantly. They said my lp2 was locked, light phone said they don’t ever lock phones so it’s not them, called every other provider I have ever had and none of them had it locked either. Put a US mobile sim in instead on AT&T network) and now it works fine. I’m not sure if it was actually locked or if mint just doesn’t work well for me.
I have puretalk on my kompakt and so far so good.

I ended up paying off my spectrum phone and switching to US Mobile. E-Sim setup went smoothly and so far so good. I do have :warning: &:exclamation: symbols next to my signal at all times which is annoying, but it seems to be working.

@junib Radio tests for Mudita Kompakt on AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile networks have returned positive results.
eSIM functionality has also been successfully tested.
If for some reason, you are having some challenges with activating, we recommend using another device initially (just for the activation process & then moving the SIM card over to Mudita Kompakt) or manually entering the APN settings if needed.
