I noticed in the checkout payment page that “I agree to cover any applicable import duties upon delivery to the US”. An earlier post on the forum stated that Mudita covered these costs.
For anyone that recently received a Kompakt shipment, was there any associated tariff fee that you had to pay or were informed you would have to pay?
I am hoping to take advantage of the shortly ending discount on the Kompakt, but have no idea about the potential size of the tariff I might have to pay.
Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. I do know that the 50% EU tariff has been postponed for about a month and a half, but there may well be original tariffs lurking out there.
If you ordered after a certain date forget the date then you will have to pay the tariff, If you were part of the Kickstarter or Indiegogo then the tariff is waived
Hopefully its not high, duties tarrifs are annoying, but before this trade wore Mudita never made you pay for duties, as opposed to the light phone company, I remember ordering a light phone and i had to pay like 80 dollars canadian in duties a few years back
Like we communicated earlier, our position regarding shipments for our U.S. customers, mindful that the legal landscape for U.S. tariffs and customs procedures is continually evolving. Our commitment to you is as follows:
For all Kickstarter backers and pre-order customers who completed their purchase before April 25, 2025 5:00am Eastern Time ET:
You will receive your Mudita Kompakt without any additional customs duties or tariff charges being passed on by us. It is our clear intention to honor this commitment and absorb these costs. However, this is contingent on the U.S. tariffs applicable at the time of shipment not increasing to a level that makes this economically unfeasible for us. If such an unforeseen and significant increase were to make our duty-free import promise unfeasible, we would inform you transparently and offer a clear solution - for example, providing a full refund if you choose not to proceed.
For pre-order customers who completed their purchase after April 25, 2025 5:00am Eastern Time ET:
As part of the order process, you acknowledged and agreed via a checkbox on our store that you, the buyer, would be responsible for covering any applicable U.S. customs duties and tariffs. The courier company will send you a payment link for these charges, and the package will be delivered after the payment is received.
Future Retail Sales: Conditions for future retail sales of the Mudita Kompakt to U.S. customers may be adjusted to reflect any new, established regulations and the prevailing tariff situation at that time.
We value transparent communication and appreciate your understanding as we navigate these external complexities.
I was looking for an estimate of the size of the tariff hit, rather than if there will be one or if I will have to pay it. The actual payment process for the tariff is very much a secondary consideration.
I did purchase a Kompakt, and when I receive it will post up the tariff so others will know what to expect. The US tariff situation does seem to be a constantly evolving thing…
Well, I think yesterday some federal court ‘invalidated’ all of Trump’s tariffs. I have a Kompakt in transit scheduled to arrive Tuesday. Who knows what, if any, tariff will be imposed by UPS.
I bought my Kompakt on May 27th. The standard order process is likely pretty well structured, whereas the buyers involved earlier required unique handling. Unique handling is usually complicated and results in delays…
