I know that with the latest update, there were supposed to be some unlock updates, including improved fingerprint sensitivity and reduced sensitivity when swiping up for accidental unlocks.
I found the swipe up and unlock with password worked fine for me on the last update. Now with this latest update
(1.3.0) this method of unlocking is quite temperamental. I have to swipe up about 2-4 times for it to register and let me input a passcode. Bit of a shame…
I currently don’t trust the fingerprint scanner just yet as it still has a tendency to want to unlock in my pocket.
I stopped using the finger print scanner immediately and opted for a passcode, but after the recent update, there’s a new option where you need to click the button first before before it recognises your finger print, there’s been no issues since. i definitely advise setting it back up again.
Yes when swiping up it’s not very responsive, takes a few goes for it to register. Sometimes it doesn’t register and you have to lock the phone unlock and try again.
I found out, that I am trying to do a sort of a diagonal swipe and not a vertical one.
When I swipe a clean vertical it works fine, but when I am in a hurry and don’t pay as much attention, I usually swipe rather diagonally and the screen doesn’t respond.
On the other hand, I am very pleased with the way that the fingerprint scanner works now.
Yes I have also found it to be unresponsive every now and then. Sometimes taking 3-5 tries. I haven’t paid attention to when it started being an issue. I tend to swipe starting near the center bottom so maybe I’ll try different positions.
(I just have have cloud library, open camera, and futo keyboard sideloaded)
UPDATE: I talked to the team about the swiping issue & they said that there were some changes made to the swipe gesture to make it more deliberate & intentional because we were having reports of unintentional unlocking of the phone etc.
So, now, the swipe has to be slower, more decisive in order not to unlock the phone. Previously, rapid/dynamic gestures, like an accidental swipe in a purse or pocket could unlock the phone (a least that what users were reporting).
A better compromise should be found in terms of sensitivity. Even when I really concentrate on swiping, I often need two or three attempts. This is very impractical in everyday use. Yes, it’s good that the Kompakt no longer unlocks accidentally in your pocket, but as I said, a better compromise needs to be found. I’ve never had a smartphone that was so difficult to unlock (as is now the case with the Kompakt after the 1.3.0 update).
So when I want to unlock, I have to swipe like several centimeters. When I swipe on a Smartphone it is much shorter distance. Is this normal that on the Mudita Kompakt it is a „longer“ way to swipe?
