Un-hide the built-in FM Radio app?

I was very happy to discover that the built-in Android FM Radio is working with wired headphones plugged in, which means the Kompakt hardware supports this feature. I was able to run it after sideloading an app that can run hidden activities (e.g. Activity Manager or Activity Launcher).

But I cannot figure out a way to make it show up in the launcher. Is there a way to un-hide it? I don’t mind that it looks bad and is not optimized for the screen.

@miiiiiiiiiiiii Have you tried SETTINGS >>>>App Layout?
For me, sideloaded apps appear there & I can hide them or un-hide them from the main screen.

Right, the problem here is that I didn’t sideload this app, it’s already present and hidden within Android somehow.

To clarify: I did sideload another app that allowed me to run the FM Radio app, but I didn’t sideload the FM Radio app itself

Hi @miiiiiiiiiiiii . I appreciate this post. Could you share more info on this? Did you use activity manager or activity launcher? Are you able to listen to FM and AM? Can you listen in offline+ mode? I would also appreciate any pictures of the process. Thank you!

I think it may be easier (less “clicks”) with the activity manager

FM

yes

@miiiiiiiiiiiii Here’s a perfect example of unintended consequences of sideloading apps.

Sorry, I don’t understand what you mean by that response. I’m not complaining, I don’t have any problems with the sideloaded apps.

I unlocked hidden functionality that I was pleasantly surprised to see working and I am very happy with it, is this what you mean by “unintended consequences”?

I’m just asking if there’s a way to un-hide the built-in app that seems to be hidden by default from the built-in launcher (I’m not necessarily looking for help from Mudita, maybe someone from the community knows how to do it).

@miiiiiiiiiiiii It was just making a comment about the unintended consequences of sideloading (good & bad), meaning that sometimes when you sideload, you could get a nice surprise, like an Easter Egg, or you get a negative reaction. It’s a mixed bag & when an app is not optimized for Mudita Kompakt, there’s no way of predicting what will happen.

@urszula The above implicates the Kompakt has already a fm radio receiver chip build in.?

If you use InkOS launcher, the FM radio shows up in the app drawer. It won’t get any easier than that.
