I travel a lot: I take trains and planes and I go in the US from time to time (I live in Europe).
I want to know if having a QR codes (train tickets for example) on the Mudita is good enough to be properly scanned.
Other than that, I live in France. I go to the US: would the european version of the Mudita be compatible there?
Hi,
if you can sideload your ticket, you will be fine. I already have taken the train in France with the Kompakt and I had no problem scanning the QR Code. I opened the PDF in the reading app…
I have also already presented barcodes to pick up a package as well as for grocery shopping at the supermarket, no problem.
I live in France as well and I’m traveling in the U.S. now and I’ve had no issues with anything at all.
what app do you use to scan QR codes? i don’t believe the kompakt itself can scan QR codes.
I don’t scan the QR code; I copy the PDF containing the QR code of the train ticket to the Kompakt, and I open this PDF using the reader application. It’s the train conductor who scans the QR code displayed on the Kompakt’s screen.
Thank you for your feedbacks!
@professed342 Check out my two article (complete with pix) on the very subject of travel with Mudita Kompakt.
Just this year, I’ve been to Athens, London, Rome, Istanbul, Venice, Padova & Verona, all with my Kompakt & I never had any issues with signal or any other app function. Kept all my boarding passes on my phone as PDFs & boarding was not a problem.
So far, I have used my QR-Codes for tickets on my Kompakt with the Deutsche Bahn app, my local public transport app and HSL (public transport in Helsinki) and it worked flawlessly. For some reason, the background lighting even turns on when I go the ticketscreen in my local app which makes the QR code even better readable. I forgot if the screen also used to get brighter on my old phone when I used the DB app but I really like that my local app does it ![]()
