I took the plunge and decided to test out sideloading, I have sideload gboard, wow is is amazing and i love the speech to text, also downloaded heremaps, I am going to download a podcast app and thats it I am getting rid of aurora store and fdroid, this is really cool that you can do this, really helps me customize the device to my liking !
Welcome to the dark side!
The keyboard is the biggest upgrade I experienced.
Yeah gboard is just amazing, I used a dumb phone for 4 years, so I am not worried about adding any addictive apps, I donāt have any social media accounts at all, I am just adding useful tools, I added here maps, a habit tracker as well, I am just thinking about other useful tools, I wonāt be adding a browser or email not a chance lol, I am trying to think of a directory type app I can add where I can just look up addresses store hours etc
Having speech to text is awesome because I got so use to it on my light phone 2, honestly Mudtia has made the best minimalist phone, they allow you to customize it the way you want , this is just amazing, I got everything back that I missed from the light phone, only think that would be nice is a directory app bc like I said I refuse to add a browser, I am thinking about adding a better calendar, I am wondering if one of these android calendars will work that I can connect my google work calendar too
You know, in the past having the convenience of Google Maps I never considered a directory lookup but most places I go Iām aware of how to get to them and just need to know their hours or phone number. Worst case scenario it would be great to be able to copy the address from a directory app and plug into one of the map apps that work better on this phone so if you do find a nice directory app please share what it is.
Iād recommend checking out this service. I use it to find business addresses, hours and contact info. You can buy bundles of messages, but I bought like $20 worth of messages 2 years ago and still have half of em left. Really great tool!

Figured it out I installed a file manager and I deleted fdroid through that app, I did find it interesting the moment I had a store back on this phone I literally went back to my old ways, I didnāt download any addictive apps, because like I said I donāt have instagram, facebook etc, but I was scrolling to the store and my brain loved it, dopamine was flying lol, I would never leave fdroid or aurora on the phone, no way
Totally. Iām so proud of you
@cleans: Consider sideloading HERE WeGo, which gives users a lot of information!
Maybe you should keep Aurora store so you can update apps and maps. You can always hide it. I would like to recommend Magic earth navi. Allegedly they donāt collect user data etc. Privacy friendly and has offline maps also.
Naw I want it gone lol, I don;t like it on there, I went on there when I was bored and that was my signal to take it off, I have an addiction to tech/smartphones so for me taking it away is the best course of action, I like the idea of the friction of having to go back and reload everything again
I had a similar experience lol. I downloaded F-Droid, Aurora, Futo and Signal immediately. Then I had a moment of clarity and said āwhat am I doing?ā then deleted all of it and only sideloaded the official Signal and OLauncher APK and let the rest go. If it wasnāt on the Punkt MP02 then I donāt need it!
Thank you, @bobbyoddsock, for the reminder about the text-based service from ouidevelop!
