Reuters also featured Mudita Kompakt in a CES 2026 video alongside two very different phones. One is the newly launched HIROH Secure Phone with a so-called “kill switch” (which might look a little TOO familiar to Kompakt users
- personally I think they copied us LOL), and the other is Samsung’s tri-fold that unfolds into a tablet, because apparently more screen time is still a selling point.
It’s an interesting snapshot of how differently brands are thinking about what a phone should be today.

@urszula, the “kill switch” is gaining in popularity, it seems! Check out the list of FIVE different kill switches in the upcoming “open_slate” tablet:
The tablet includes physical hardware switches that can disable key components at the hardware level, including:
- Wi-Fi
- Bluetooth
- GPS
- Microphones
- Cameras
These switches are about control first - with privacy and security being the direct result.
