It would be great if Mudita could use their platform, working with LightPhone, to organise a yearly meetup/conference regarding intentional technology use. In combination with the following of LightPhone and the dumb phone subreddit, I believe there’ll be a lot of interest, and lots of benefits.
its a good idea. ive started separating functions, and there’s definitely something about intentionally doing something. the smart phone, and the internet to a great extent puts all things all in one place, there’s no intention in any actions anymore. and I expect that has a big impact on out health and out health with technology.
take for example the simple act of moving your music to its own player, be it a DAP, CDs or otherwise. now to listen to music you dont just lift your -already phone holding- hand and play music, you have to actually go get your music player, sit and listen
this seems to hold true for most activities.
and we know this for some other things. writing on a word document is not the same as writing on paper or eink with a pen, and I think there’s research showing this. I expect it’s similar with many activities.
so yes, there probably should be more focus and community building around this
