I’m not affiliated with TISI in any way, but becoming a MK user made me curious about such services. For those of you who don’t want a browser or a chatbot/LLM on their device, but may still want a lo-fi way of getting information, you can now text your query in an SMS instead and get an SMS reply with the answer. The service uses Perplexity Sonar (or similar).
There’s a demo to try.
It’s short-form, so queries are expected to be succint and answers seem to be <= 300chars. (Quite sensible for a mobile service.)
Example: I asked it to explain the enlightenment.
“The Enlightenment (1650-1800) was a period of new ideas and thinking in Europe, led by philosophers like Locke, Descartes, and Kant. It emphasized reason, individual rights, and intellectual freedom, influencing politics, science, and culture.”
Not bad for <300 chars.
For now, I’ve loaded the Claude app on my MK, so I may stick with that, but TISI might appeal to MK users.
Ciao.
